The pursuit of looking perfect can be expensive, but these bizarre beauty regimes include things you might not expect anyone to try
#1 How far will you go to look good? Bizarre beauty fads show crazy pursuit of physical perfection
People will try just about anything to keep their skin looking youthful - including a handful of weird, and slightly gross, treatments.
The beer is said to have a calming and replenishing effect, while the hops have moisturising properties which can help skin stay smooth.
But it's far from the strangest treatment. Check out these others:
#2 Snail Facial
Big in Japan, the treatment involves having three snails slither up and down your face as their mucus is said to have anti-ageing properties.
Apparently, it'll relax you and leave your skin feeling fantastic.
And it costs £50.
There aren't many places in the UK offering the treatment, but if you like the sound of a snail facial, you can get one at a salon in Corby, Northants.
However, if you don't want to fork out £50 a snail slime cleansing moisturising cream is available online for £10.
#3 Bird Poo Facial
Bird poo smeared all over your face is supposedly a great way to keep your skin feeling as smooth as a baby's backside.
It's another Japanese regime, also known as the Geisha Facial , and is a 60-minute treatment.
The Spa To You at the Hilton and London's Park Lane offer the facial for £180.
And there are soaps and masks available on the birdpoopfacial website, ranging from around £12-£18, and delivery is free worldwide.
#4 Snake Massage
This one is not for the faint-hearted.
Snakes are sent slithering all over your face, shoulders and neck, apparently relieving migraines and muscle pain.
The Ada Barak's Carnivorous Plant Farm in Israel charges around £58.
There is no DIY home kit to try - unless you have a trustworthy snake handy, of course.
#5 Placenta Facial
According to experts, the cells in sheep placenta nourish the skin and prevent ageing.
It costs £185 for a session that lasts around an hour and a half.
The bizarre treatment is available at the Beyond MediSpa clinics inside Harvey Nichols in London and Edinburgh.
