As per the outlet, Amanda filed for the legal petition last week at Ventura County Superior Court in California. The conservatorship oversees both her person and estate.

Talking to People, Bynes' attorney, David A. Esquibias, said: "Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary."

Back in August 2013, Lynn Bynes was given a temporary conservatorship of her daughter after the famous celebrity reportedly started a fire on a driveway. Her mother regained conservatorship over her daughter in October 2014, People reports.

Apart from this, the former Nickelodeon star had also been struggling with substance abuse issues, legal troubles, and displayed concerning behavior in controversial Twitter rants.

Rubbishing the rumors that the conservatorship was ever extended through to 2023, Esquibias told People: "It is open day-to-day. A status report regarding her health and welfare was recently filed and approved by the court. By law, the next status report is due in two years. Her conservatorship will terminate when it is no longer convenient for Amanda."

As per NBC News, Amanda's parents are supportive of her decision to end the conservatorship, with attorney Tamar Arminak saying on Friday: "The parents are happy, thrilled to get this good news.

"The professionals say she is ready to make her own life choices and decisions and are so proud of her. They 100% support her decision to end the conservatorship."

In October 2020, Esquibias described the 'She's Is The Man' star as "very entrepreneurial".
