#1 Star Wars: The Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic was a pretty obvious choice. Now for those of you who haven't played the game, you should, because since its release Star Wars: The Old Republic has really garnered a lot of fans, and now boasts over 200,000 lines of dialogue and as well as those romance options we all so love. It's not the world conquering MMORPG we were promised, but for what it is? It's pretty good

#2 Warframe

Warframe is a damn good game, free and probably deeper than most AAA retail games that are released these days. The game mainly focuses on battling the alien plague in teams of four. The game is highly addictive, especially in groups, and the amount of upgrades.

#3 Gotham City Imposters

I'm quite surprised that this game gets passed over a lot, because it is quite an enjoyable title. The game pits Dark Knight wannabes against criminals imitating the Joker, but the great use of gadgets really makes things more fun and the game less serious. It's a great game and it does keep things fresh and exciting by unlocking rewards.

#4 Team Fortress 2

This is one of the best multiplayer games out there, in large part because, in spite of its age, Valve constantly keeps updating it and keeping things fresh and new. It's class based, so each class will have their own advantage and disadvantage. And the best part is that the micro transactions really don't hinder you from getting the full experience from Team Fortress 2. Well, not unless you really have a thing for hats.

#5 Tribes: Ascend

For a free game, Tribes Ascend really is tough. Not that that matters, because it is also fair. Tribes Ascend is one of the most compelling and immediately addictive shooters on the market, and it commands a dedicated, loyal following. It helps that it looks great, too.

#6 Vindictus

Vindictus is a little like Skyrim, except it is an episodic story online RPG where you can go through and choose one of seven characters, each with their own attributes and skills, and take them through an epic story one episode at a time. This is a new thing for free games, and it is something worth investing your time in.

#7 Quake

Quake is the original multiplayer shooter sensation, and I love it. Quake Live lets us relive those glory days in an F2P form. While it's not the most visually appealing game out there, the combat more than makes up for it. Be warned there are still clans out there that will kick your ass.

#8 Star Conflict

Those of you who loved the epic space battles in Star Wars ? Star Conflict is your game Star Conflict has players build a starship, equip it with parts that enhance its abilities, and then send it into battle against other spaceships. The dogfights are pretty impressive and it is quite easy on the eyes in terms of graphics.

#9 Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft

If you spent your childhood playing card games like Pokemon or Magic, then Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is the game you want to give a second look. It can look deceptively easy at first, but then before you know it, you've given over your life, and half of your savings over to the game. It's got oodles of charm, and that signature Blizzard sheen to back it up, too.

#10 Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Phantoms

Ubisoft seems to have its hands in everything, even if it's a free game. Ghost Recon Phantoms is a pretty enjoyable title and it remains true to the Ghost Recon franchise. If you have played a Ghost Recon game before, you'll find it a familiar thing to choose a class and start missions, and then get to unlocking all kinds of guns and upgrades while you play. It's a classic multiplayer shooter game, but it comes with even more tactics.

#11 Robot Unicorn Attack 2

I enjoyed playing this game so much that I often wanted to smash the screen because of the difficulty level. And yet this is one of the best browser games you'll find online. A couple hours later, and you'll still be amazed by the game's catchy presentation and gameplay. Sure the game is tough as hell, but hey it's free and it's fun.

#12 Happy Wars

Happy Wars is kind of like Age of Empires, only the characters look like they snorted up some kind of drugs. The objective of Happy Wars is to storm your opponent's fortress, using different classes of soldiers, and conquer it. Its fun, frantic and it's one those games that you are glad is free. Only, be prepared to face players who have forked over extra money to gain higher levels than you.

#13 League of Legends

You thought free to play was the domain of just smaller developers who didn't have the capital to fund a full fledged AAA game? Think again, because Riot Games just threw its gauntlet into the arena. Anything is possible in LoL. The game is quite massive as it has over 100 champions can be controlled, which means thousands of possible team combinations in every match. LoL is a phenomenon, and one of the most successful games ever made. If you can stomach its toxic community, be sure to give it a go.
