Amber Heard has suffered not only a blow to her reputation following the defamation trial but also suffered great financial loss in a bid to win against her ex-husband. Confidential information from the defamation trial reveals an estimate of financial losses that Heard has suffered due to the A-List trial filed against her by Johnny Depp.
Amber Heard Claims She Lost Up To $50 Million Due To Johnny Depp’s 'Defamatory Statements'
Amber Heard says she has lost $50 million because of Johnny Depp's 'defamatory statements.'
Documents that weren't allowed to be presented as evidence in the high-profile defamation case between the feuding ex-spouses have recently been unsealed.
The Daily Beast has taken a peek at some of the files and there's a section where Heard's team tried to estimate how much money she lost as a result of her divorce battle with the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
Variety claims that the financial losses that the actress bore as a result of Depp's 'defamatory statements against her' were in the '$47-50 million' range.
These numbers have been decided based on the assumptions that Heard like other actors, like Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Zendaya, Ana de Armas, and Chris Pine has appeared in superhero or action movies like Aquaman, Wonder Woman, No Time To Die and Spider-Man.
When the trial was going on in court, Heard's legal team told the judge that her acting career was on the rise before her divorce and public fallout with Depp.
Entertainment industry consultant Kathryn Arnold told the Virginia court Heard being cast in the first Aquaman film was her launchpad to stardom.
"It was that moment where not only was she a good actor, but she was now world-renowned because she was in the most successful film … for DC Comics,” Arnold said, as per the New York Post.
"It was just this extraordinary moment for her, for her career to take off."
The documents that were not included in the trial and were seen by The Daily Beast also revealed another interesting thing when it comes to money.
During Heard and Depp's divorce proceedings, the Aquaman star was reportedly offered handsome money but she refused.
Heard was entitled to half of Depp's earnings from Pirates of the Caribbean 5 because it was filmed during their marriage and was considered a 'community property asset'.
It was easy for her to walk away from the divorce with a whopping 'tens of millions of dollars,' however, she rejected the offer.
Heard's team told the court during the defamation trial that the divorce for the actress was never about the money.
The actor has also recently sold her Yucca Valley home in California for $1.05 million, according to a new report.
The Aquaman star allegedly bought the six-acre property in 2019 through an anonymous trust tied to her for $570,000.
Built in 2015, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is situated about 10 miles west of Joshua Tree National Park and is more than 2,400 square feet.
The desert hideaway, which was her primary residence for several years, quietly changed hands via 'Heard’s people' on 18 July and was never publicly listed for sale, TMZ reports.
Following the sale of the Mojave Desert digs, the actress has earned a profit of $480,000 which she will be using to cover the compensatory and punitive damages she owes Johnny Depp after their defamation lawsuit last month.
