The cyber war between Anonymous and ISIS is turning out to be more interesting than anticipated with both sides are claiming to have eradicated large portions of each other.
Anonymous Delivers Lethal Blow To ISIS By Closing Down Major Communication Forum... But Is It Enough?
#1
There are unconfirmed reports that Anonymous has shut down 10000 ISIS Twitter accounts since they called for war against them. The team of hackers have been vigorous in their attempts to eradicate ISIS from the online world in the wake of the Paris attack.

Vocativ reported that Anonymous has achieved their biggest achievement to date by shutting down a forum which the ISIS terror group used to communicate. This is in fact a lethal blow for ISIS.
On the other hand Quilliam Foundation researcher, Rachel Bryson stated that ISIS has a strong online background and it wouldn't be so difficult for them to restore or rebuild such forums.

A ISIS supported tweeted this following the incident,
"You are so stupid, they don't know that they opened the gates to hell for themselveswe didn't lie when we said that ISIS is owning the virtual world. They can delete and accounts and hack them but they can't change our truth and can't hack our minds and hearts."
This was then followed by an Anonymous tweet which stated that their site has some vulnerabilities. This shows their cyber strength nonetheless.
"For those trying to access our ISIS reporting site: don't bother. It's down for a bit due to vulnerabilities.

It is also assumed that ISIS could change to other platforms following the attacks by Anonymous. Telegram, a cloud based messaging service which sends encrypted texts could be an option they are attempting to use.
Rachel Bryson said to Vocativ, "We keep seeing them migrating across different platforms. I don't think by shutting down a current means of communication will mean the Islamic State fails. It's not key to defeating them."
It may not be the key to defeating them but to date it's far more than any government is doing to stand up for the people and fight terrorism.
