Apple Set To Finally Add Feature That Android Phones Have Had For 15 Years

It seems like Apple is about to roll out a new feature in its latest iOS update that Android users have been enjoying for quite some time now.

It appears that those belonging to Gen Z and owning an Android might often feel the sting of jokes for not sporting an iPhone.

However, the tables might just be turning with Apple's upcoming software update seemingly taking a leaf out of Android's book.

But, for those of you who are currently holding an iPhone and are curious about what some Android users might jest about with the arrival of the new iOS update, you've landed in the right spot.

This piece of news was initially brought to light by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter dated March 25.

Gurman has disclosed that the iOS 18 update is expected to introduce a 'more customizable' Home Screen page to iPhones.

You might be wondering, what exactly does that entail?

As things stand, iPhone users have the ability to customize their Home Screen, albeit in a somewhat restricted manner by shifting apps around within an unseen grid layout.

And, for those who wish to break the mold a bit, there's the option to incorporate a handful of larger widgets here and there.

However, should you attempt to position an app with a space in between it and another app, or perhaps on an entirely different row, the app will swiftly snap back to the next open slot in the row, anchoring itself within the confines of the invisible grid.

Sure, there's the option to head to the store and download specific apps that allow you to tailor your phone's appearance to your liking, bypassing some of Apple's default settings.

But, this is an extra step that Android users don't have to bother with.

With the iOS 18 update on the horizon, Apple aficionados might soon find themselves freed from this hassle as well.

Insiders have whispered to MacRumors that the scope for customization is expected to broaden with the forthcoming update.

This would potentially enable users to arrange their apps with gaps in between them as they please or even organize them into rows for those looking to truly make a statement.

Additionally, the iOS 18 update is rumored to bring with it new AI capabilities for Siri, enhancements to Apple Maps and messaging.

Apple is anticipated to unveil the latest iOS iteration this June at The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) - an annual information technology gathering hosted by Apple Inc.
