Baby Wakes Up Moments Before It Was About To Be Cremated
#1 Difficult Delivery
An An, a newborn baby in China, was born premature on January 8. He was kept in the hospital for about a month so that he could be monitored by hospital staff.
#2 Coming Home
Doctors allowed An An's parents to take him home after 23 days for the Chinese New Year. His condition quickly got worse when he was home.
#3 Rushed Back To The Hospital
An An was rushed back to the hospital on February 4. His parents said that they saw him go pale as if the life was draining from him.
#4 Pronounced Dead
Teeny, tiny baby An An was pronounced dead on February 4. Doctors determined the baby died of cardiac arrest and issued a death certificate.
#5 -12 Celsius
The baby was wrapped in two layers of clothing by his father before he was put in a plastic bag and sent down to the morgue. He stayed in the morgue overnight where the temperature stays at about -12 Celsius.
#6 Heard Him Crying
The hospital staff were preparing the tiny body for cremation when they heard him cry. As you can imagine, they were astounded to find out the baby was still alive.
#7 The Baby Was Still Alive
"As soon as I pulled him out of the morgue, I thought I heard noises. When I pushed him to the crematory, the noises became louder," said one worker at the morgue. "I opened the container and saw him moving, so I told the father the baby was still alive."
#8 Back To The Hospital
After it was discovered that An An was still alive, he was immediately rushed back to the hospital. There was no way the child would be okay after being stored at such low temperatures.
#9 First Time Ever
Doctors at the hospital said that this is the first time they'd ever seen anything like this. Many of them explained it as nothing short of a miracle.
#10 Intensive Care
Doctor Chen, head of pediatrics, said, "I have been a pediatrician for over 20 years. I've never seen anything like this." An An is now in intensive care at the hospital, however, doctors are cautiously optimistic about his recovery.
