Billie Eilish Confirms She's Attracted To Women In New Interview
Billie Eilish, the 21-year-old superstar, spoke openly in a recent Variety interview about her experiences with womanhood, addressing years of scrutiny about her body and sexuality.
She discussed her evolving sense of femininity and bravely shared her attraction to women.
For a long time, Eilish wore baggy clothes, hiding her figure, as she struggled with her self-image and identity.
In the interview, she revealed feeling like she's never been desired or desirable, offering a glimpse into the challenges of her personal journey.
"I've never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I've never felt desirable. I've never felt feminine," revealed Eilish. "I have to convince myself that I'm, like, a pretty girl."
The "Bad Guy" singer clarified her preferred pronouns, adding, "I identify as 'she/her' and things like that, but I've never really felt like a girl."
Billie Eilish, a Grammy winner, revealed that her complex emotions surrounding her womanhood have made her feel as though other women don't particularly appreciate her.
"I've never really felt like I could relate to girls very well," she shared.
Although Eilish wrestles with that assumption, she admitted that she's "attracted to" other women. "I love [women] so much. I love them as people. I'm attracted to them as people. I'm attracted to them for real," she said.
"I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life," the singer-songwriter continued.
"I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”
Billie Eilish, who has faced intense scrutiny around her sexuality and dating life, described the experience as "weird and upsetting" in her conversation with Variety.
Despite this, she has traditionally maintained privacy about her personal affairs.
Her most recent public relationship was with Jesse Rutherford from The Neighbourhood, which started in October 2022 and ended after eight months in May.
While they split, sources indicated they remained on good terms as friends.
Before Rutherford, Eilish was in a relationship with actor Matthew Tyler Vorce for over a year, spanning from April 2021 to May 2022.
Additionally, her Apple TV+ documentary, "Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry," detailed her dating and subsequent breakup with rapper Brandon Adams, known as 7:AMP.
Eilish, known for hits like "What Was I Made For?" has openly expressed frustration with how the media and audiences often delve into discussions about her sexuality.
During a 2021 interview with Elle, Eilish highlighted her discomfort with conversations online that consistently focused on her style, dating life, and, notably, her sexuality.
Interrupting the dialogue, she interjected with a pointed, "Or my sexuality!" emphasizing her exasperation with the persistent scrutiny surrounding that aspect of her personal life.
“Like, oh yeah, that’s everyone else’s business, right? No. Where’s that energy with men?” she continued.
“I just wanted to make a song once, and then I kept making songs. I never said, ‘Hey, pay attention to my life.’”
