It seems like the world has already picked their right and wrong in the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial and many fans are willing to go an extra mile to ensure that Heard pays for everything that she made Depp go through including her career being taken away. Blake Lively Most Popular Pick With Fans To Replace Amber Heard In Aquaman 2
With all the drama surrounding the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial and the general anger of the public, there has been increasing pressure from the people to kick Amber Heard out of the Aquaman franchise, in the same manner, as the way she destroyed Depp's career.
Now even though there has been no indication that Amber Heard will lose her role as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, this has not stopped people from making efforts through an online petition to have Heard dismissed from her role.
Millions of people have already signed the petition against the actress.
The public stands heavily with Depp and the petition for removal of Heard from Aquaman has gotten more than 4m signatures globally.
In fact, there have been rumors circulating that Heard's screen time in the movie has been reduced to less than 10 minutes.
Heard also testified that she "fought hard" to stay in the film, alleging that Warner Bros. had wanted to have her removed. The studio has not confirmed nor denied the rumors as of this time.
Apart from the call for a boycott, fans have also been going about giving their own suggestions on who could be a better choice for the role of Mera.
Emilia Clarke has come up a lot, given her previous working relationship with Jason Momoa on the HBO series Game of Thrones. Meanwhile, many other fans have been throwing their support behind Blake Lively for the potential recasting. Fans have been expressing this opinion on social media frequently and there has since been a new petition launched at Change.org calling for Lively to officially get the part.
"After the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and all the negative 'energy' around the latest, and since Blake Lively is a much likable actress and human being," the petition description reads.
Though there are fewer chances that the role of Mera will be recast, even though the movie has been pushed back to 2023. This is because the movie has been shot and casting a new actor would be very expensive.
So a much easier option for the studio is to reduce Heard's screen time, which appears to be what happened, according to recent court testimony from Heard.
"I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film," Heard said, noting her role had been "very pared down" from what it was originally. "I was given a script. Then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another. They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on March 17, 2023. The fan art above comes to us from SPDRMNKYXXIII on Instagram.
