Bodybuilders Charged With Animal Abuse For Starving Their Horses

#1 The couple have a ranch in South Miami-Dade.

#2 Miami-Dade Agricultural Patrol officials seized three starving horses on May 27.

#3 Alex Paez, a 48-year-old bodybuilder was charged with four counts of animal abuse.

#4 Milagros Cowan, 50-years-old, was also charged on the same counts as her husband.

#5 The couple had used their horses previously to pose for pictures showing off their muscular bodies.

#6 Their lawyer Alexander Michaels said....

"I wish the police would spend more time on human victims, and child victims, than on horses who skipped a meal".

#7 SFSPCA ...

The SFSPCA (South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) are currently caring for the horses who have "gained a lot of weight" since being removed from the couple's care.

#8 A member from the SFSPCA said that it was heartbreaking seeing the horses every day as they were obviously traumatized.

#9 Brutality...

The stalls where the animals were kept were extremely dirty and the horses hooves were severely overgrown and hadn't been trimmed for almost a year.
