A newlywed couple's life together was brutally cut short when a drunk driver rear-ended them, leaving the bride dead and the man critically injured.
The happy couple is seen laughing and performing a sparkler tunnel as they depart their wedding, which took place last Friday.
A few minutes later, Jamie Komoroski, 25, is accused of crashing into the golf cart the couple left their wedding reception in, killing 34-year-old bride Samantha Miller and gravely injuring 36-year-old groom Aric Hutchinson.
Three counts of felony DUI causing serious bodily harm or death and one act of reckless homicide has Komoroski in custody.
The disaster at Folly Beach, South Carolina, is said to have been caused by Komoroski driving a leased Toyota Camry at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone while under the influence of alcohol.
When the cart was hit, the newlyweds and two other passengers were inside. The cart traveled more than 100 yards before coming to a stop.
According to the Charleston County Coroner's Office, bride Samantha died instantly as a result of blunt force trauma she suffered in the collision.
Aric's distraught mother, Annette Hutchinson, set up a GoFundMe page, and it has already received $432,191 (more than £350K) to 'help pay for Sam's burial and medical expenditures for Aric and his family.
Aric may not be aware that his wife has passed away because he is undergoing one of two reconstruction procedures, has multiple fractured bones, and has a brain injury.
According to police sources, he has been in critical condition ever since the event, and both his brother-in-law Ben Garrett and nephew Brogan were riding in the cart that Komoroski struck.
Brogan was released from the hospital, according to a family relative, but Ben was critically injured.
Andrew Gilreath, director of the Folly Beach Public Safety Department, clarified that it was acceptable to operate the golf cart after dark.
Logistics account executive Komoroski was driving alone in the leased Toyota when the accident happened. Komoroski has subsequently been charged with one count of reckless murder and three counts of felony DUI causing grave bodily harm or death.
She will appear in court in June while she is still being held in the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Facility.
For Samantha's death, she may receive a term of up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,100 (more than £20K); for the other three victims' injuries, she could receive an additional 15 years and $10,100 (more than £8K).
She faces a penalty of up to $5K (about £4K) in fines, 10 years in prison, and a five-year license suspension for the accusation of reckless homicide.
Tragically, Aric's mother stated on the fundraiser page: "I was handed Aric's wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows. Aric has lost the love of his life."
Numerous tributes to the tragic couple have been left on the page by both friends and total strangers.
One well-wisher commented: "I’m also a 2023 bride and my heart aches to hear this story. Sending you all much love and strength during this heartbreaking time."
Another said: "Aric - our hearts are broken for you."
And one simply said: "I can’t believe you are gone, Sam."
