Candyman Had 'Strict Rules' For Wife And Girlfriends When Living Together In Mansion
Here’s a look into the unique and strict lifestyle rules for those living in Australia’s version of the Playboy Mansion, also known as the Candy Shop Mansion, owned by tobacco tycoon Travers Beynon.
Known as "The Candyman" by his wife and many girlfriends, Beynon, now 52, has become famous for his wild parties and unconventional lifestyle.
Over the past year, Beynon and his wife, Taesha, have begun to step back from their extravagant ways, especially as they prepared to welcome their newest son, Santiago, in June.
Last December, Beynon even put the sprawling mansion on the market. Yet, the stories of their wild years at the Candy Shop Mansion are bound to remain a part of Australian pop culture.
Beynon has shared that he balances his time between his wife and his many girlfriends, and insists they all get along well.
Infact, he says they would often sleep together in one enormous bed and gather weekly for a ‘family meal’ where mobile phones are strictly banned.
When it comes to choosing new girlfriends, Travers has what he describes as 'strict rules' to maintain harmony within his household.
Despite these rules, he admits to facing "every scenario you could think about" over the years.
However, he claims he is "always clear and never unclear about the rules" when bringing in new girlfriends.
In a 2018 interview with LADBible, Beynon detailed what a typical experience at the Candy Shop Mansion is like.
"We had a party at the mansion and then we would move up to the bedroom, which has a stripper pole, mirrored ceilings, and all the lights and smoke machines, LEDs, and all that," he explained.
He recalled one particular incident, saying, "She [Taesha] remembers one point where it just turned sexual and about 10 to 12 girls all jumped on me. And my wife told me that she couldn't actually see me under the pile of girls, she said it was almost like I was being eaten alive."
"There was a moment when that happened when I was able to see the ceiling, and I could see myself and I said to myself, 'OK, I think I can go now.' I thought, 'If my time's up now I can happily go.' And it happened quite a few times after that so I feel pretty lucky."
But, as you might expect, managing such a lifestyle comes with its challenges.
Beynon says his experience in "people management" within the business world has been instrumental in navigating his polygamous lifestyle.
He explained, "If you're in as a girlfriend you're part of the family. We have a compulsory family dinner on Sunday nights with everyone, and we all sit down, we fill two large tables, and I take everyone's mobile phones and put them in another room."
He added, "We get takeaway because it's our one-night takeaway. We all sit there—the young kids, the older kids, the girlfriends, the wife.“
“They are forced to talk about the old days, and that's a pretty special night for everyone. Once we've finished our takeaway, we go into the cinema that I have in the mansion and all watch a movie together."
So how does one manage to keep everyone happy in such a situation?
Beynon’s solution was that everyone shares the same bedroom. But it's not just any bedroom.
"The bedroom has three large king-sized beds," he said.
"I actually have another bedroom in the house which is just for me so if it ever gets too much, I escape to that.“
“Managing girls who are romantically involved, emotionally involved, can be challenging but the more you do it the better you get at it."
Despite the challenges, Beynon seems to have found a way to make it work.
"There have been girls who have flown from the US and the UK even and have lasted one hour—their attitude wasn't right so off they went."
He continued, "There have been girls who have done the wrong thing, they've been rude, or they want more—just me. Every scenario you could think about I've had to deal with."
And what about his wife, Taesha, in all of this? Beynon shared that when they met, she was just 18 and working as a hostess at one of his parties.
"I disclosed exactly what I was all about, how it's going to evolve, and the Candy Shop Mansion," he said.
Taesha, he explained, was already into girls, which he admits helped a lot.
"She was certainly into girls so that was a big help. There was a lot of fun to have, and I can be quite creative in bed, so I suppose that helps."
At the end of the day, Beynon believes that Taesha was secure in her role as the wife, knowing that "there's more to that than just a pretty girl coming along."
He added, "She enjoys the parties and the other girls. We all sleep in the same bed, and we are sexually all together. It's all together—that's one way of keeping it under control."
If you’re wondering how new girlfriends are chosen, Beynon explained his meticulous process: "I'm very picky—we've had girls from Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Europe, Turkey, the UK, and what happens is they apply, I look at their looks, and they have to write a description about why they would be a good girlfriend."
After a video call to verify their appearance, the chosen candidates are flown in from anywhere in the world for a trial period.
Beynon joked, "That's one way to put it. Probably more like online dating."
So, if you’ve ever dreamed of joining Beynon’s unconventional household, now you know what it takes.
Just remember, no filters!
