By manufacturing cannabis-infused candies that were packaged in fake Haribo packets, it appears that drug dealers have been "marketing their products at children."

TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram have all sold "gummies" and "edibles" in colorful bags that imitate the packaging of well-known candy companies like Haribo, Skittles, and Jolly Ranchers. Social media has been used to market products.

Drug dealers frequently advertise their cannabis candies on TikTok as well as on Instagram, where they post pictures of their products.

The cannabis gummies are being advertised on the messaging app Telegram alongside other Class A substances like cocaine, heroin, ketamine, and ecstasy.

Nearly 30,000 people subscribe to a channel on the platform used by drug dealers in the UK that sells massive amounts of cannabis hash worth $4,521.

The packaging of the drugs, according to the police, makes them more appealing to young children, which is a major concern.

Sadly, the scam has already had an impact on young children, as the Daily Mail has claimed that eight kids, including an eight-year-old, were hospitalized after eating the cannabis treats.

According to this alarming study, the drugs can be used to lure kids into county boundaries, a type of trafficking operation.

Alarmingly, according to police in the east of England, one-third of individuals arrested on suspicion of using cannabis sweets are under the age of 18.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Burns said in quotes published by the Mail: “Not only are these substances potentially very dangerous, but they are also illegal and anyone in possession of them risks arrest and prosecution.”

“Cannabis edibles are laced with mood-altering ingredients which can cause side effects such as loss of consciousness, hallucinations, sickness, and heart problems.”

“The way they are branded to look like sweets suggests they are being marketed at children, but worryingly also means that they could easily fall into the wrong hands.”

“We also know that gangs involved in county lines will use an array of tactics to target vulnerable young people, and reporting suggests social media is used to advertise the sale of cannabis edibles, potentially to appeal to younger people who are using multiple social media platforms.”

“I would urge parents to be alert to the sale of these substances and the dangers they present.”

"Anyone with information on their sale or who thinks a child is being exploited to sell them should contact their local police force right away.”
