It appears that a good portion of uber-famous celebrities just can't keep up with all the money and free time on their hands. They tend to blame all of the sudden fame and stress of the job on their craziness, but the facts are that a lot of them are a little unhinged from time to time. These examples are just a few of the really whacked out who just could be diagnosed as insane.

#2 Alicia Silverstone

While we won't say Alicia Silverstone is completely bonkers, a recent video of her and her son had some eyebrows raising recently. Apparently, she is into what is known as 'birding.' She chews her food up the regurgitates it into her son's open mouth like a baby bird. Yuck. The 'Clueless' star defended her behavior saying it was natural, which makes us believe she is totally clueless!

#3 Tom Cruise

True love brought Tom and Katie Holmes together, but it's suspicious that it took her so long to figure out that the guy was a bit crazy. He started with his loony behavior back in 2008 when he started jumping on Oprah's couch because "he was so much in love with Katie". Oprah could barely finish the interview and the performance became a joke in pop culture. This was the start of the public noticing the actor had more than a few screws loose. After a few more public meltdowns, including attacking a reporter during an interview on the red carpet, his outburst at Brooke Shields for taking medication to help her from suffering from postpartum depression, his biggest bizarro is the whole Scientology thing.

#4 Nicolas Cage

He has an issue with over spending, ringing up sales on luxury items that cost more than he is raking in. He recently purchased boats, fossils, luxury liners, exotic pets, castles, and cars. He recently purchased a per octopus and claimed it was to help him with his acting. It may sound a little more than insane, but what's worse is that directors keep giving him movie roles.

#5 Lyndon B.Johnson

This is one president who lived up to his name. Word around Washington DC is that Johnson sported a pretty big 'Johnson' and showed it off whenever possible. When the big Texan wasn't escalating the war in Vietnam or enacting new social programs, he was walking up to everyone in the capitol and asking them if they wanted to look at his enormous penis. He is reported to have turned around in a White House bathroom and asking a reporter if he'd ever seen anything as big as his penis.

#6 Courtney Love

Where do you begin? She's known to have done all kinds of drugs, including cocaine, LSD, heroin and other heavy stuff, and admits to taking drugs while pregnant. In 2004 she took her top off and danced with her flopping breast in David Letterman's face on The Late Show. After several public meltdowns, including a fight with a flight attendant and trying to burn down her own home, she accused the Muppets of 'raping her deceased husband' Kurt Cobain because they covered his song on their program.

#7 Kiefer Sutherland

Keifer is actually quite a loon. He has a long history of crazy incidents with random people, many DUIs, while he also likes to give new meanings to the expression "drunken misbehavior". He was escorted naked from a London strip club and head-butted a fashion designer, for starters. In 2006, at Christmas time, he went ballistic on a Christmas tree, attacking it and knocking it to the ground on CCTV at a London hotel.

#8 Anne Heche

Back in 2000, Anne Heche was seen running around the Fresno County wearing nothing but a bra and shorts. She then entered a stranger's home and made herself lunch and took a bath. When the police finally arrived she claimed that she was God and was going to "take everyone back to Heaven in a spaceship." This was after she had a lesbian affair with Ellen Degeneres and split up because of her LSD use. Thankfully, she came to her senses and is happily married now with two adorable children.

#9 Britney Spears

A simple case of being overworked and stress, performer Britney Spears had a severe meltdown a few times in her career. At one point she was arrested for driving with her infant son on her lap and said it was because of paparazzi but later confessed to being slightly crazy. Another incident was when she strolled into a Beverly Hills salon and asked the beautician to shave off all of her gorgeous blonde hair. When the woman refused, Spears grabbed the clippers and began cutting it off herself. Thank God she is back to normal and working.

#10 Nikola Tesla

No doubt, Tesla was a genius and way ahead of his time. But the visionary also happened to be slightly cray-cray. We all know that Tesla was experimenting with thing slike radio, radar, and even the internet long before anyone had even thought about such inventions. He was also obsessed with the number THREE. He believed the number was bad luck and actually frightened him. He was also an extreme germaphobe and had a fear of pearls.Yes, pearls. He is said to have sent a secretary home from the office one day for wearing a necklace of pearls.

#11 Margot Kidder

You may remember Margot Kidder as Lois Lane in the Superman movies, and from numerous films during the middle 1970s and early 80s. The actress has been officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and it has troubled her for years. In 1996 she was reported missing and was later found roaming the streets four days later unaware of her identity. Her clothes were tattered, her teeth were smashed, and she was bruised all over her body when taken in for treatment. Today she continues to act without any symptoms.

#12 Randy Quaid

Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have totally lost their minds. His brother, Dennis, has gone public with some of the accusations against his brother, admitting that he needs some serious help. The couple went on a burglary spree and in 2010 had to flee to Canada to escape being arrested and jailed for living in a house they claimed was theirs but actually wasn't. The 'Vacation' actor and his wife believe there is a secret group going around killing celebrities, dubbed "Star Whackers".
