#1 "Can you hear me? Great, it's working."

Baby monitors used to be walkie-talkies, but now they've become much more. You can connect to them through your smart phone and listen, or even control the camera that accompanies it. While this is extremely convenient due to the fact that you can actually see your baby while he/she sleeps, but you can also do it all from the device that you likely carry around at all times.

#2 The problem arises when people, particularly those with malicious intent, take control of these devices. Since they're able to connect to smartphones, they've become significantly easier to hack.

#3 This Washington family thought they were doing themselves a service by purchasing a more complex baby monitor, but they didn't expect what happened next...

Sarah and Jay kept receiving complaints from their 3-year-old son. Apparently someone was talking to him at night and it was frightening him, but they just assumed it was his imagination. That is, until Sarah walked into the room one night to hear what was talking to him.

#4 Upon walking into her son's room, Sarah heard someone say "wake up little boy, daddy's looking for you."

Shortly after, Jay heard something come from the monitor as Sarah walked closer to the room. This time, the voice said "look someone's coming," as Sarah came into view of the camera. Needless to say, both parents were extremely frightened that someone was watching them through the camera and also had the ability to hear and talk to them. Without hesitation, Sarah and Jay contacted the manufacturer of the monitor, Foscam, who then went on to inform them that it was likely someone had "hacked" into their monitor by using a computer or smartphone. The parents requested anonymity out of fear because the person who hacked their monitor could potentially find out who they were. Watch the video below to hear it in their words.
