The reputation of airplane food is not the best, as we all know.

However, one airline might have pushed the boundaries a bit too much, as shocked social media users are expressing their concerns about a specific option seemingly offered on a flight.

A traveler on a China Eastern Airlines flight posted a picture of the business class food menu, highlighting one particular item.

This has sparked attention and raised eyebrows regarding the kind of food options available on the flight.

The airline was reportedly offering imported dog food with Okra listed as one of its appetizers.

Despite the surprising revelation, numerous social media users commented that this must be a translation error.

One can only hope that it is.

The picture has garnered nearly 1000 likes on Facebook and has also been shared on Reddit, leading to additional jokes and ridicule circulating on social media platforms.

“Apparently, economy class passengers only get domestic dog food,” one user joked.

“If it’s business class I expect my imported dog food to be 96% air dried organic beef,” another wrote.

“Most likely the translation has gone wrong. Besides, how bad could dog food be?” said another.

Certain users speculated that the translation might be referring to hot dogs or suggested the possibility that the airline is pet-friendly.

Meanwhile, some individuals simply requested to see the original Chinese version of the menu to gain a better understanding of what was being offered.

Opting for dog food might be preferable to having no food at all during a flight.

However, earlier this year, Japan Airlines stirred controversy by urging customers to contemplate forgoing a meal on select flights.

Since 2020, the airline has been testing this initiative as part of its strategy to "reduce its environmental impact" by minimizing plastic usage and cutting down on the number of meals served to mitigate food waste.

Japan Airlines has encouraged passengers to make the "ethical choice" by abstaining from having a meal, citing findings that many customers on their flights preferred sleeping through the entire journey rather than being awakened for a meal.
