When is a cup more than just a cup? When Christian's are outraged that Starbucks has mocked Christmas by turning their coffee cups red and green. I know, I don't get it either.
Christians Are Super Offended By The New Starbucks Red Cup Design
#1 Let The War Begin!
Every year it's the same thing. The so-called "War on Christmas" has already begun. So far, Starbucks is the first at the war zone, as some people are offend due to its holiday-themed red cups. Why did they take the CHRIST out of Christmas with a simple red cup? Really?? It's a cup!
#2 The New Holiday Cups Are Red, Green and White. They Display No Christian Symbols.
Starbucks annual holiday cups were revealed last week, as Christmas is fast approaching. They decided on a cup "with a bright poppy color on top that shades into a darker cranberry below. "We have anchored the design with the classic Starbucks holiday red that is bright and exciting," said Jeffrey Fields, Starbucks vice president of design and content. "The ombré creates a distinctive dimension, fluidity and weightedness." Sounds good to us...but not everyone is happy with their cup decisions.
#3 Past Cups Featured Holiday Symbols Yet Never Had People Complain About Them.
The design looks slightly different than years past, which have featured snowflakes and other wintery icons. This absence of holiday symbols is, of course, making people FURIOUS.
#4 Starbucks Should Stop Being Scrooges!
The company is being accused of giving in to political correctness. "What is it about Christmas that Starbucks are afraid of celebrating?" the Christian Institute's Simon Calvert asked. "Haven't they heard it's the most wonderful time of the year, and the season of good will to ALL men? They should get involved and stop being scrooges."
#5 People Are Actually Mad!
The Christian community is blaming Starbucks for giving in to the political correctness and not keeping Christ in Christmas.
#6 Some People Are FURIOUS!
Christians are peeved that the coffee company has erased any symbols of Christianity from their holiday cups. Hundreds of tweets like this one, 'I would never spend one penny there anyway so screw them. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!' are flooding the twittervers and the company's web site.
#7 Santa Claus Doesn't Mind... But He Is Not A Symbol Of True Christmas Either.
Lots of customers are coming to the defense of Starbucks, but of course there are also online protesters of this change to a simpler design, and they are so serious about it they will boycott Starbucks! Wonder if that's just until Christmas is over or a lifetime boycott?
#8 They Are A Business, They Can Do Whatever The Wish!
Even though the company is free to do things the way they desire, fears of boycotts happen at this time every year for many different companies. It's a War on Christmas, as the media calls it.
One blogger wrote, "Starbucks took Merry Christmas off their cups because of Christ; so tell them your name is Merry Christmas & they'll have to put it on the cup!"
