The age-old mystery surrounding the whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant might finally be closer to being solved, at least according to recently revealed documents.

As described in the Bible, the Ark of the Covenant was built by the Israelites not long after their escape from Egypt, which is believed to have taken place around the 13th century BC. This sacred chest is said to contain the Ten Commandments given to Moses.

Some experts believe the Ark was stored inside the Temple of Jerusalem's Holy of Holies, which was its innermost and holiest chamber, before it mysteriously vanished in 586 BC. There’s also a popular theory that claims the Ark was moved to Ethiopia, where local stories say it remains hidden inside a church.

While there’s never been solid, confirmed proof of its existence, a newly declassified CIA document from the year 2000 claims that the agency may have actually tracked it down as far back as 1988.

Back in the 1970s and 1980s, both the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) worked with individuals said to have psychic or paranormal abilities. The idea was to use these people to gather information about distant locations or events through mental means alone.

This particular operation was known as Project Sun Streak. It was a type of remote viewing program that involved giving psychics only a set of coordinates and asking them to describe what they “saw.”

On December 5, 1988, during one of these remote viewing sessions, a psychic identified as 'No. 032' was tasked with describing an unknown object or location.

What this viewer reported seeing turned out to be pretty astonishing.

"The target is a container. This container has another container inside of it," the document stated. "The target is fashioned of wood, gold and silver and it is decorated with a (six-winged angel)."

The psychic also described the object as being shaped like a coffin. They sensed it was somewhere in the Middle East, where the local language spoken was Arabic.

Interestingly, the psychic was never told that they were searching for the Ark of the Covenant. Still, the details they gave seemed to match what’s been historically recorded about the Ark. According to the Bible, the Ark was a chest made of wood and covered in gold, created around 1445 BC.

The document went on to say: "The target is hidden - underground, dark and wet were all aspects of the location of the target."

"The purpose of the target is to bring people together. It has something to do with ceremony, memory, homage, the resurrection. There is an aspect of spirituality, information, lessons and historical knowledge far beyond what we now know."

According to the remote viewer, the Ark isn’t just lying around unguarded. They claimed it is actually being protected by entities, and only those with special authorization can open it now.

This document is just one piece of a broader collection of declassified materials that came from the CIA’s psychic research programs. These programs have been used in various scenarios, including trying to locate hostages or track down people who’ve gone missing.
