Almost a month ago, Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd at the country music festival in Las Vegas. He killed 59 and injured over 500 innocent people. His actions have left our country in mourning. Many people are still in recovery, and survivors are working on coming to terms with what they went through. Among the survivors, were Dennis and Lorraine Carver. They became well known for the actions of Dennis who threw his body over his wife to protect her from the barrage of bullets.

Sadly just two weeks after the Vegas incident, this couple died when their car crashed into a metal gate and was immediately engulfed in flames. The couple died together less than a half a mile from their home.

Their 20-year-old daughter spoke out after this tragic incident saying that her father could not live without her mother. Their love was a selfless love. They spent the two weeks after the Vegas incident living in the moment.

They had been so relieved to have survived the incident in Vegas and happy to be surrounded by the people that they loved the most. It was as if they were even more in love during that two weeks than they had been in the whole duration of their relationship.

Their 16-year-old daughter was home when the car accident happened. She actually heard the crash and when she went outside to look around, she saw the family car engulfed in flames. She says she takes solace knowing that they loved each other and went to Heaven at the same time as one would not have been able to live without the other.
The two daughters plan to honor their parents’ memory by living by their family motto: ‘We do as we do and we be happy.’

This photo depicts a US Army soldier who threw his self on top of a woman and shields her eyes in a brave attempt to protect this total stranger. He was also reported to have used his belt as a tourniquet to stop bleeding on another person and even went as far as using his finger to plug a bullet hole in another.
It was such a tragic incident, but it really brought out the hero in some folks. Our thought and prayers are with all of the families affected by this horror.
