Dad Gets Eerie Feeling, Then Learns That Bus Driver Mistreated His Daughter.
#1
After hearing that his disabled 6-year-old daughter had a "bad day" on the bus, a Florida father decided to investigate. However, it would take months for the man to have his eerie feelings confirmed, after the school finally granted him access to bus security camera footage and that's when he learned what the bus driver had done to his daughter that day.
The incident took place in St. John's county, Florida, after Chris Kain states that his daughter came home a bit disheveled. When his disabled daughter returned from Palencia Elementary School and said she had a "bad day," he knew something went wrong on the bus ride.

After pushing for months to see the video, words couldn't describe the amount of frustration he was about to experience. As it turns out, the clip depicts a bus aide mistreating Chris's special needs daughter both verbally and physically.
According to IJ Bump:
On one piece of footage, two bus aides are depicted restraining [Chris]'s daughter by holding her arms over the seat. Another video shows the bus driver verbally mistreating the girl, telling her he'd "pinch her back" if she touched him.

"It's horrifying because my daughter never told us any of this," he said. "We knew there had to be something on there and we had no idea that it was this bad. They're restraining these kids for little or no reason and they're the most vulnerable kids."
For those unaware, children with either behavioral or emotional disabilities are held to a different standard than children who attend mainstream public schools. Although staff are allowed to physically restrain children under certain circumstances, they do have a strict set of rules to abide by that outlines when such action is appropriate.
During the incident with his daughter, Chris says this wasn't one of those times where it was justified. Instead, the outraged father suggests that staff "talk to her and talk her through" the issues she's dealing with, since she doesn't handle them like other kids.
Since the video was released, the aides on the bus have not only been reprimanded, but removed from the route with Chris's daughter entirely. As for the bus driver, he too was reprimanded, but he remains as the driver on that bus.
As for Chris, he's trying to get his hands on the rest of the surveillance camera footage to see what else has happened to his daughter, or even other kids on that bus. If you work in a position that deals with difficult children, patience must be in your arsenal.
