Dad ‘Needs Therapy’ After Paying £54 For Four Fish And Chips At London Restaurant

Les Jones, from Yorkshire, was visiting his son in Ilford, London, but when he realized how much their food cost, he regretted covering the bill.

To cope with the shock of it all, the 83-year-old stated he was in "need of therapy."

His vicar son, Gareth, shared an interesting story on his Twitter account.

He wrote: "Dad wanted to buy fish and chips last night. We let him and he gave me his card to pay for them delivered.”

"He's now trying to access therapy as he's realized 4 rounds of fish, chips and mushy peas cost him £54. ”

"Welcome to London, Yorkshireman."

The post was so well, receiving 11,000 likes and 500 comments, with many people adding their own stories of overpaying in the city.

One user said: "Rock and Sole Plaice in Covent Garden, £17 for one portion of Fish Chips and mushy peas! (Excluding Peroni) Tasty though."

Others took advantage of the chance to brag about the cheap chippy teas they had recently had.

One smug diner said: "We had fish and chips and peas for 5 adults on Thursday and it cost £20.20. Best fish and chips in the world in Yorkshire."

Sharing a snap of their dinner, another put: "Bought this fish and chips today in Carlisle for only £6.40 and it tasted bloody lovely!"

Gareth later disclosed that his father found people's comments amusing in a follow-up post.

He wrote: "Dad is slowly recovering, helped by some red wine and reassuring words.”

"He's tickled that this post generated so much fun. Here he is looking for much more content and very good for 83!"

Gareth also told the Sun that it had 'brought him a lot of laughter and cheered him up following the death of his wife.

Gareth said: "He doesn't own a smartphone and can't use a computer.”

"So Twitter is alien to him - but he's sat reading all the comments today!"
