Fans give negative reviews to psychiatrist after he testified against Depp, calling him a narcissist and claiming that he has a substance abuse disorder.
Depp Fans Bomb Negative Reviews On Dr. David Spiegel After Combative Testimony
Johnny Depp fans take no prisoners, and Dr. Spiegel is finding that out the hard way. If you’ve forgotten who the infamous psychiatrist is, here’s a quick video to refresh your memory.
Dr. David R. Spiegel stood out during his testimony due to his combative nature and refusal to answer certain questions. He had to be reminded by the judge that he was required to answer questions that the lawyers asked of him.
He also got a reaction out of Johnny Depp when he asked if Marlon Brando was still alive in response to a question regarding earpiece use. Depp was seen hanging his head and holding it in his palms to process the situation.
Dramatics aside, Dr. Spiegel testified that Johnny Depp had, "behaviors that are consistent with someone that both has substance-use disorder as well as behaviors of someone who is a perpetrator of intimate partner violence."
He was questioned regarding his methods and whether he had accurately measured the situation when coming to his conclusions without ever meeting the star.
The doctor acknowledged that he had never directly interviewed Depp and drew conclusions from the fact that Depp used an earpiece to receive lines when filimg movies and that his vocal delivery during movies was a sign of memory decline.
He also referred to Depp as an ‘idiot’ which was deemed unprofessional.
Lawyers clarified that Depp’s vocal delivery varied by role and could not have been a clear indication of Depp’s actual behavior off set.
Dr. Spiegel admitted that his evaluation may not have been accurate with regard to his on-screen performances.
While he was able to walk away relatively unscathed from real court, the court of public opinion refused to let him off so easily.
His WebMD page has since seen a flood of 1-star reviews that tanked his rating on the site.
One review said, "Dr. Spiegel needs looking into after today's performance! He looks and sounds like he is the one who needs psychiatric help,"
Another said, "Called my boyfriend Johnny a stupid pirate."
Beyond his WebMD page, he was also bombarded with negativity on his Google page. "Honestly the 'doctor' seems iffy and scary! And not because I'm a Johnny Depp supporter. [It's] because listening to him and his vibe [is] SCARY!!!"
Another review read, "This doctor should be avoided at all times because he has been unprofessional, unpleasant to work with. He has misdiagnosed multiple people with the slightest hint of regret and acts like he [knows] everything. He should be avoided at all times."
There are attempts to do some housekeeping as most comments are deleted as they come but the damage has been done and is rather large to contain at this moment.
The trial has sparked people’s ire with many involved after watching it unfold over the series of the last 6 weeks.
Heard is being sued by Depp for $50 million after an Op-Ed that was published in the Washington Post in 2018.
She has since countersued for $100 million. These testimonies will not only be instrumental to the current case but will also set precedent for the follow-up counter lawsuit.
