Drug makers are getting very creative by creating Minion shaped ecstacy tablets and shipping them in children's coloring kits.
Despicable E: Authorities Seize Minion Shaped Ecstacy Pills
#1 Chile seized ecstasy pills from the Netherlands in the form of "minions".
Anyone who has seen Despicable Me or The Minion Movie is aware just how adorable they are, and that children and adult alike are in love with the characters. Which is probably what prompted drug manufacturers to use the likeness to create a shipment of Ecstasy pills in their honor.
#2 Customs have discovered over 100 children's coloring kits that included the drugs.
Chilean customs authorities seized over 100 Dutch-made tablets shaped like Minions and hidden in a children's drawing kit.
In a routine procedure performed by security from the International Airport of Santiago de Chile, authorities found 101 ecstasy pills of different colors shaped in the form of the "minions" characters. They were sealed in tiny plastic bags in quantities of 20 and then placed in the coloring kits.
#3 The pills had been sent from The Netherlands to the Chilean city of Vina del Mar.
Two men, one Chilean and one Argentine, were arrested at their apartment and put under house arrest by local authorities. The Drug Control Unit at Customs has managed to intercept the synthetic drug, but authorities believe this was just a trial shipment, as they found over 2,000 kits including the pills in an apartment of one of the drug dealers.
#4 In another incident, officials found methamphetamines in backpacks sent from Colombia to Australia via Chile.
Australian officials confiscated 700 children's backpacks that had sealed bags of meth crystals inside them, and believe they are to have originated from the same drug ring centered in Chile. The drugs were shipped to Chile via Columbia then on to Australia. The Ecstacy tablets shaped like Minions are believed to have originated in the same location.
#5 This is not the first time Ecstacy pills were found being shipped from Chile.
Last year, Airport Security and the TSA found the popular drugs coming in to the US and Canada via a shipment from Argentina. That discovery proved to include approximately 2,700 assorted shaped pills, including some that looked like Bart Simpson and President Obama. That shipment arrived from Argentina, but was traced to Chile. Drug enforcement agents believe that all of the pills are originating in Columbia or nearby locations then being shipped to various locations to avoid discovery of the original manufacturers.
