To keep track of a whole family isn't easy: Everyone has to be somewhere at a different time. After school and work there's sports practice or chores or other important meetings.There is nothing better than a cozy dinner table to make sure there is at least one moment in the day when everyone is sitting face-to-face. This family certainly made their dream a reality.
#2 This is the before picture of the dining room table: pretty dull and nondescript.
#3 A blank canvas is always a good way to start. This room is about 3 x 2 meters in size.
#4 They began with the longest side. First, they screwed boards to the wall.
#5 Make sure everything is well-supported so grandma doesn’t fall down later!
#6 A similar technique is used on the sideboards as well.
Right now it still looks a big strange, but you can almost begin to imagine the vision of a new family meeting spot.
#7 The next step is to install the surface to sit on. But before they are screwed down …
#8 … they are covered in upholstery.
They chose a water-resistant material that is easily cleaned so there are no worries if someone drops something while eating.
#9 There is also a layer of foam beneath the fabric to provide a little extra cushion.
Surprisingly, this costs even more than the wood!
#10 Once the fabric is good to go, the base of the benches are covered up.
#11 A baseboard adds some harmony to the whole look.
#12 And finally a quality paint job does the trick.
#13 A well-fitted table is also essential: This one was homemade of course.
#14 But it’s not quite finished until the pillows and place mats are sorted.
If this isn't the definition of a warm, welcoming atmosphere, then I don't know what is!
Finally enough room for the whole family. No more uncomfortable chairs and as long as grandma doesn't go too heavy on the perfume, young and old can enjoy loads of time together eating, playing, and chatting.
