A Disneyland employee is being slammed online after a viral video showed him interrupting a couple's dream wedding proposal. The proposal was going really well at first, with a viral video showing the man getting down on one knee ready to pop the question. But as he holds up the ring, a Disney worker suddenly runs over and snatches the box straight out of the man’s hand.

After taking the ring from the man’s hands, the Disneyland employee ushers the couple off of the platform and down to a metal gate, saying: ‘Yes, that’s great but over here will be even better.’

Onlookers could be heard booing after the fairytale proposal was brought abruptly to an end.

A Disney spokesperson told Newsweek that the attempted proposal took place at Disneyland Paris, on a platform with the background of Sleeping Beauty Castle in perfect view.

A spokesperson for Disneyland Paris has issued an apology after a viral video was shared on social media showing the moment the romantic gesture was interrupted.

"We regret how this was handled," the Disney spokesperson added. "We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right."

The viral clip was originally posted by Redditor wasgehtlan, who said he knew the man in the video.

“POS destroyed my best friends (sic) moment,” the user wrote in the post. “He asked for permission beforehand.”

Fellow Reddit users bashed Disneyland for how it handled the situation.

“Their admission pass didn’t include the $149 optional ‘Proposal Photograph’ fee,” one user quipped.

“Trying to figure out if dude was happier enforcing rules or ruining [the] moment. He was legitimately happier for ruining the moment,” another wrote.

Another said that “If some stranger ran up and snatched a diamond ring out of my hand, more than the moment would be ruined.”

Another added: "He has to be fired for this, like there's no way Disney can have a guy working for them who doesn't understand a wedding ring is not something to be snatched away mid-proposal. This video is ridiculous."

"Seriously it ruins the magic. A little rule bending for such a special moment is the magic that you remember," commented a third.

However, one person in the comments section who claimed to have worked at the park, offered some explanation, writing: "So these are character stages, guests are [definitely] not allowed here.

"The coworker saying it was ok made a mistake, only management can authorize those sort of things, and if it happens, they are escorted by castmembers. The guy may have been overzealous and wanted to be theatrical, though. There certainly was a better solution for this situation."

The video poster with the username u/wasgehtlan, in a comment under the video, said his friend "actually asked a female co-worker" if proposing on the platform was OK.

"The woman gave him permission, [then] this POS ran up to him and [grabbed] the ring," the poster said.

Of course, the video soon made waves on Twitter, racking up over 2.5 million views. Some Twitter users joked about the proposal and were on employee's side.

Many questioned whether the employee would lose his job, or was fired already, for the incident—or whether that is part of general employee policy.

One Redditor alleged that he knows an employee who works for Disney, who told him that company employees are "explicitly told that we never touch a guest without their clear permission, given either verbally or through body language. We're not allowed to take their property under any circumstances and doing so results in termination.

"We're also trained to do anything we can to keep our guests happy and continue to sell the image of 'most magical place on Earth,'" the employee allegedly told the Redditor. "This employee will be terminated pretty swiftly should this video make it to the right people. All he had to do was wait 10 seconds. Get it out there and he's a goner."

A Disney employee handbook found online from 2016 specifies that employees will face discipline or even immediate termination if "conduct toward the employee's managers, co-workers, or anyone with whom the employee comes in contact while performing work for the Company that is unprofessional, discourteous or disrespectful.

“While you are not required to contact Disney in order to propose, you may want to if you'd like to plan something more elaborate,” the official Disney website reads.
