User haaal_throwaway shared a story that starts with him (admittedly, drunkenly) trying to be a good Samaritan, and ends with him seriously regretting it.

Check it out here, and see what you think:

"This will sound unbelievable, and will make me look like a complete idiot and sketch bag.

I got reaaally drunk. I partied late. On my walk home I was stopped by a homeless woman. I don't remember how the exchange went at all, but for some reason the "Good Samaritan"/"incredibly naive idiot" in me was in full force. I think she asked for money which I didn't have, so instead I offered her a place to stay for the night. She accepted."

"I took her home to my place and said she could sleep in my bed, which she did. I slept on the floor in my living room.

I had a flight to catch super early in the morning to head back home for a small break before I had to be back in town to start a summer job.

The next morning (like 2 hours later), still incredibly drunk, I was was awake and ready to go to the airport. Before I left I, I MADE THE WORST DECISION!. I decided TO LET THE WOMAN STAY IN MY PLACE WITH KEYS! I literally left my keys with her! I didn't have her name, I didn't have her phone number (if she even has one). I was so f**king drunk but it seemed like I could trust somebody. She was down and out, and my place could be a sanctuary for her from the craziness of her every day life. I stuck my f**king face into another persons business I had nothing to do with."

This guy sobered up on the plane, and as soon as he landed called his landlord asking if he could change the locks. But by then, the damage was arguably done

"Long story short, she tried to cash a cheque in my name with a money mart for 450 dollars, and my TV is gone. I'm not back to that city for two weeks. If I hadn't called my landlord to change my locks, my computer, bike, guitar would have been gone (I'm sooo lucky they weren't!). My freaking passport was left in that room (my flight was domestic) and it may be gone as well, I doubt it, but there is a good chance.

Now my biggest problem of all! I don't feel I can call the police. The optics of the situation are incredibly bad! As a male it looks like I picked up a prostitute and took her home. I didn't lay a hand on this woman. I thought I was doing such a nice thing! I slept on the floor of my living room, and yet if it were to come up it would be her word against mine."

"Which brings up my next problem! If I don't call the police and something comes up, like she's arrested then the question will be: "Well why didn't you contact the police?! If you didn't do anything wrong, you have nothing to hide". So it looks terrible either way! I would never pick up a prostitute, or abuse another individual, but I have a feeling this event will be the end of my life It shows incredibly bad judgement, and may impact my career."

That's a pretty sticky situation
