Elon Musk Told His First Wife He Was 'The Alpha In This Relationship' During First Dance

A new biography claims that during their first dance, Elon Musk told his first wife he was 'the alpha in this relationship'.

Elon Musk's biography by Walter Isaacson examines the businessman's marriage to Justine Musk, his first wife, as well as his following relationships and achievements.

When writing the biography, Isaacson had numerous conversations with the tech tycoon and Justine; in the past, Justine had revealed how challenging their eight-year marriage had been.

'There were warning signs. As we danced at our wedding reception, Elon told me, I am the alpha in this relationship. I shrugged it off, just as I would later shrug off signing the postnuptial agreement, but as time went on, I learned that he was serious,' Justine wrote in the essay.

She noted that his commanding demeanor and the same determined mindset that had led to his achievements in the business world persisted even when he was at home.

Additionally, she shared an incident where he had remarked, ‘If you were my employee, I would fire you’ as a clear example of the ongoing tension between them.

While describing their early marriage, Justine revealed the power disparity she started to observe.

“The vast economic imbalance between us meant that in the months following our wedding, a certain dynamic began to take hold.”

‘Elon's judgment overruled mine, and he was constantly remarking on the ways he found me lacking. "I am your wife," I told him repeatedly, "not your employee."’

She observed that Musk is "not a man who takes no for an answer" and that the two would frequently dispute during their conversations.

She did say, though, that she didn't think it was possible to be in a relationship with the businessman and not fight.

"I met him when he didn't have much at all," she told Isaacson.

“The accumulation of wealth and fame changed the dynamic. The strong will and emotional distance that makes him difficult as a husband may be reasons for his success in running a business.”

When they first met at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Elon was a sophomore and she was a freshman.

While he changed university, they continued to communicate despite their occasional dating.

Eventually, the two decided to get back together and moved in together in New York City.
