Anyone who has ever had to deal with acne knows that a breakout could cut down our confidence. It is especially true if you work in a business that puts your skin in the spotlight every day. This is what happened to Brianna Lopez.
Everyday Household Products That Cured This Woman's Acne
Brianna is a model who has a severe case of acne. In order to get anywhere in that industry, a person has to be almost flawless. That is why she had to come up with a way to clear up her skin and keep her acne from coming back again.
She tried several products and medications that did not work out. She found out that natural remedies and homemade facial masks seem to work the best. She says that most of the things that she uses on her face are everyday items that you can easily pick up from the grocery store.
After finally having some success in clearing up her acne, Brianna started sharing her pictures of her skin on Instagram, and the photos ended up going viral. People were really impressed with her drastic transformation, so she created a step-by-step video.
Her skincare routine has six steps. First, she cleans her skin with 100% natural jojoba oil that she buys from Trader Joe's. It does sound weird to use an oil to clean your face, but jojoba is a great preventative for breakouts.
Jojoba acts the same way that the natural oils on your skin act. Sometimes your natural skin oils will overproduce and clog your pores. Using jojoba oil tricks the skin to not produce its own oils. Jojoba is also fantastic for removing makeup.
Step two of her system involves making a homemade facial mask. Brianna whips hers up using ingredients that she already has in her kitchen. Her go-to mask is made from raw honey, cinnamon, and turmeric.
Turmeric and honey have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The cinnamon helps increase circulation that will boost the skin's natural glow. These three ingredients, together, fight acne and make for an effective mask that does not break the bank.
Brianna, on occasions, uses a mask made from sulfur and bentonite clay, but the honey one is her absolute favorite. She keeps the mask on for a full hour before washing it off.
Step three involves moisturizing. She uses the products pictured here. Both of them have essential oils that help fade acne scars, plus they are full of vitamins and help stimulate new cell growth.
Step four is where Brianna will spot treat her skin at night. She will dab raw shea butter on any of her breakout areas. You can see her full tutorial here.
Step five is all about protecting your skin from the sun. Every morning, Brianna skips the shea butter and applies an SPF 40.
Step six has nothing to do with putting anything else on your skin but what you put in your body. "Acne is almost always internal, so you need to clean their insides, and their skin will follow," she says.
Brianna takes herbal supplements like burdock root, neem leaf, milk thistle, and turmeric. Also, the only meat that she eats is fish.
She also says that it is a great idea to skip wearing makeup now and then. Leaving your face to breathe is always a good idea. On those days, Brianna just applies the two oils and some sunblock in the morning.
Brianna says that her skin is far from perfect, but it has certainly come a long way from how it used to look. She said that she noticed results after just one week, but she did not feel fully comfortable with her appearance for two and a half months.
"I still have scarring left which I am working with a doctor to fix because to be a model you basically need to be 'perfect,' which no one is and I am not claiming to be perfect at all," Brianna says. "There are worse things that can happen to you in life than acne. But getting acne takes a really big toll on your life."
