Meghan Markle and Harry came forth in a Bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where they revealed some harsh truths about what life with the royals is really like. From mistreatment to racist behaviour, Meghan found herself at odds not only with the family but also the tabloids.

There was a secret wedding

One of the first things to be revealed was that Harry & Meghan got married officially three days before the televised royal wedding. Harry reveals that he had asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to officiate and that there were only three people in attendance including the couple and the officiant. People have claimed this to be an untruth since official wedding ceremonies require witness signatures.

Meghan referred to the royal family as the firm or the institution

Throughout the interview, Meghan referred to the royal family as the firm or institution rather than the family. This was an indication enough of how the royal family operates and how every action is on their part forms part of a larger image. 

She also revealed that the royals had a symbiotic relationship with the tabloids and that they had annual dinners for the tabloids to ensure that the right kind of news got out.

Oprah pointed out the double standards in the tabloids' treatment of Kate vs Meghan citing an incident where Meghan was demonised for eating avocados whereas Kate was celebrated. 

Meghan laughed at the situation but agreed on how small instances like this were an indication of the larger sentiment of racism in the country.

In one story, the tabloids had smeared Meghan for making Kate cry over wedding planning. Meghan now reveals that it was actually the other way around.

She made clear that her revelation was not to demonize Kate but to bring to attention the mistreatment she experiences. She also questioned why there was such a need to take sides and choose between the two and why both of them could not have been accepted.

She said she had suicidal thoughts

Meghan revealed that she had suicidal thoughts when she was pregnant with her son Archie. She said the triggers were being cooped up at home and the narrative that was being spread on tabloids. 

She said she couldn't understand where they got negative material from when she had left the home only twice in four months.

She also mentioned an incident where she expressed her concerns to her husband saying she shouldn't be left alone. Pictures from that event reveal harry holding her hand tighter than usual.

She said royals were worried about her son Archie's skin color

Meghan revealed that the family was worried about her son's skin colour and refused to grant him the title of 'Prince'. This meant he would not get the same protocols and security that the rest of the family had. This made both parents extremely worried for their children's future and made them reconsider their position in the family.

Harry said he was trapped and that his brother and father are trapped too

Oprah asked Harry how he was trapped considering the privileges of his royal upbringing. Harry revealed that he was unable to make time for himself and was trapped within the system. He also claimed that his family members were also trapped within it but could not leave. 

The Royals have since issued a statement

In an official statement by the royal family, they acknowledge Meghan's claims but do not give any indication as to whether they were true. The statement also reads that the issues will be resolved privately within the family.
