Alana Bechiom sued Taco Bell on November 15, after a troubling incident at the December 18, 2022, work Christmas party, citing a hostile environment with threats and firings, leading to her resignation.
Ex-Employee Sues Taco Bell After 'Witnessing Orgy' At Outrageous Christmas Party
A former employee of Taco Bell is suing the fast-food chain for reportedly walking in on a group sex act, in what has to be one of the most strange work Christmas party occurrences ever.
Workplace Christmas parties can get very rowdy, but according to a lawsuit, one former Taco Bell employee says she was "shocked and disgusted" to see how close her coworkers are.
On November 15, Alana Bechiom, the employee, filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the restaurant company.
According to the lawsuit, she received an invitation to the Christmas celebration at the California Taco Bell where she worked on December 18, 2022, and was informed that it would be a potluck-style buffet.
She went to the supermarket with the intention of surprising her coworkers with her bowl of guacamole, but she soon discovered something wasn't quite right, according to the lawsuit.
Bechiom claimed that wrapping paper had been used to cover the windows and the security cameras in the lobby.
She continued by saying that although some of the staff had been "overserved," her boss had been giving out alcohol to the workers.
When Bechiom went outside to socialize with other workers during the celebration, she said she came upon a colleague "having sex with his wife in front of everyone at the party."
She claimed that the coworker's wife was kissing her manager and another colleague while all of this was going on.
She was 'disgusted and enraged' when she left the party, the lawsuit claims.
When the former employee went back to get her bowl of guacamole after rushing out, she discovered that one of her coworkers had puked into it.
Bechiom claimed that she brought the issue up with HR after leaving the party.
After that, her manager was sacked, along with the other workers who allegedly participated in the sex act.
According to the lawsuit, after her colleagues were fired, Bechiom got threats from their acquaintances saying that her car window was shattered and that she was intimidated.
The Guardian received a statement from Taco Bell's PR department that said as follows: “While we don’t own or manage this location, the franchisee who owns and operates this restaurant has shared that they take these claims very seriously.”
The lawsuit claims that the food chain offered to move Bechiom to a new location rather than deal with the people who had reportedly been intimidating her.
This led to the unhappy worker's resignation, and she filed a lawsuit seeking damages for what she claimed was a hostile work environment.
As the legal case continues, it reminds us how crucial it is to keep a professional and respectful vibe, especially during celebrations.
This Taco Bell incident, which started as something strange, is now making everyone talk about how workplaces should treat their employees and prevent such problems. It's a reminder for companies to focus on creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone at work.
