A viral video of a young woman being beaten up has caused the internet to believe it could be Zendaya, but it's most certainly BS based on the visual evidence.

This video went viral over the weekend... it's 7 seconds long and shows someone wailing on this poor girl inside an apparent store somewhere.

They kick after they've finished striking, sending the woman flying back and hitting her head against a wall.

Indeed, it's incredibly brutal — and, as far as we can tell, there's no context to indicate where or when this occurred, who was involved, or why.

What they do feel they see here is someone who resembles Zendaya, at least based on the few glances of this girl's face in the video. Yes, we'll admit it... it does resemble the actress, particularly in her 'Euphoria' scenes.

Again, there's no knowing when this was taken – or if it's even Zendaya at all – but FWIW, Z doesn't have this length of hair right now – she's got a much shorter 'do, as evidenced by recent pap images of her out and about in Massachusetts.

Her shoes are also different from what is shown in the video: rainbow-colored Crocs.

Zendaya is wearing sneakers... She has stated publicly that she will only wear tennis shoes or heels, with little in between. According to our research, Zendaya has never been photographed wearing Crocs.

The bottom line is that there is no convincing evidence that this is, in fact, Zendaya — and yet, Twitter is currently trending her because they believe it is her. Others have pointed out that those who mock this, Zendaya or not, are sending the wrong message.

Even if it's only a lookalike, many regards the filming and recirculating of an assault on a woman of color as a worrying trend, with this being the latest incident.

It's hard to tell if it's Zendaya at all. She's not rocking this hairstyle at the moment. She has a much shorter hairstyle right now. Her shoes are also different. She wears colorful Crocs in the video, which the style icon doesn't normally wear.

Here are some of the reactions to the alleged Zendaya fight video:

  • "Zendaya gon be confused as when she wakes up and sees why she's trending."
  • "This Zendaya news better not be real unless ima have to step in."
  • "I need Zendaya to confirm that's not her getting her a** beat."

Of course, it could be a doppelganger or a deep fake. Thanks to AI technology, deepfakes have become common on the internet. A deep fake is a video in which a person's face has been digitally altered so they look like someone else, which can be used to spread misinformation. It's common on the dark web.

TMZ later updated the article to report that a spokesperson for Zendaya had confirmed that the woman in the video was not the star.
