Jonathan Plummer was married to novelist Terry McMillan from 1998 to 2005, when he came out as gay. She even based the romantic hero of her bestselling book How Stella Got Her Groove Back (2004) on Plummer.

Actress and singer Angela Lansbury has starred in several productions, but she is best known as the main character in the popular series Murder, She Wrote. Lansbury also lent her voice talents to Disney's Beauty And The Beast as Mrs. Potts. Angela Lansbury was once married to actor Richard Cromwell, but she obviously didn't know that Cromwell was gay when the two tied the knot. The pair was only married for a year, from 1945 to 1946. Years later, Angela revealed that the marriage ended because of Cromwell's sexuality. The two remained good friends until Richard Cromwell passed away in 1960. Just goes to show you that nothing is really new in Hollywoodbut it is much more publicized these days.

Minnelli's mother, Judy Garland, also married a gay man.
