Footage Shows Massive Lightning Storm Over Australia

The night sky over Australia's north was illuminated by a massive electrical storm, leaving spectators in awe.

Geoff Green managed to capture the breathtaking display in the year 2017 in Kimberley, Washington, as Tropical Cyclone Dahlia made its way along the coast. While the storm was certainly impressive, Weatherzone meteorologist Graeme Brittain noted that such occurrences are not uncommon in the Kimberley area.

Brittain explained that these storms are relatively frequent in the region due to the energy provided by the intense heat in northern Australia. 

However, the remoteness of the Kimberley area means that not many people have the opportunity to witness and record such events. As a result, Green's footage became particularly noteworthy, offering a rare glimpse into the awe-inspiring power of nature.

Given the intensity of the electrical activity during these storms, Brittain emphasized the importance of seeking shelter in the event of such weather phenomena. 

He recommended taking refuge in a car rather than being exposed in the open or hiding behind trees. Lightning strikes pose a significant risk, and seeking the relative safety of a vehicle can significantly reduce the chances of harm.

While capturing the spectacle of an electrical storm on film is a remarkable feat, it's crucial to prioritize personal safety. Lightning strikes can cause severe injuries or even be fatal, making it essential to exercise caution during such extreme weather events.
