San Francisco-based graphic designer Brian Pollett's latest art project was quite a party… a 20-day party at that! DMT, Cocaine, THC, MDMA and GHB are just a few of the drugs Pollett experimented with over a 20-day period, creating unique art on each drug.
No, Pollett's goal was not to become a drug addict or overdose. Instead, he said he "wanted to create opportunities to educate, whether related to psychedelics or art."
While every piece of artwork is based around what looks like the same woman's face, the colors, detailing and themes change drastically depending on the drug of the day. The differences are so striking it's safe to say different drugs bring about unique forms of inspiration.
Taking any drug, especially 20 different drugs in only 20 days, is extremely risky. So before you hit the pavement in search of your local drug dealer, remember taking drugs is not going to make you a genius or an artist extraordinaire; instead it could just land you in jail, or even take your life.
Day 1: Butylone-- psychedelic
In an interview with APlus Pollett shared, "Imagine the past, future, and linear time are gone. You can just focus on your existence in the present. The idea of tomorrow is laughable. I can create art without concern of outsider judgment, without over analyzing my process, and intuitively enjoy creating the most honest work."
Day 2: G.H.B-- naturally occurring neurotransmitter and psychoactive drug, an anti-sleep medication often used to treat narcolepsy
Day 3: Codeine-- narcotic used to treat pain and cough
Day 4: T.H.C.-- psychoactive component of cannabis
Day 6: Nitrous-- oxide of nitrogen often referred to as 'laughing gas'
Day 7: Cocaine-- powerful stimulant
Day 8: Psilocybin-- psychedelic mushroom
Day 9: 4-HO-MIPT-- synthetic psychedelic similar to magic mushrooms and LSD
Day 10: Poppers-- slang for class of chemicals known as alkyl nitrites
Day 11: DMT-- psychedelic compound in the tryptamine family
Day 12: Ether-- drug class of organic compounds containing an oxygen atom connected to two alkyl or aryl groups
Day 13: 25I-- psychedelic drug discovered in 2003
Day 14: MXE-- dissociative drug sold as a designer drug with stimulant, depressant, anti-depressant, hallucinogenic and analgesic effects
Day 15: MDMA-- psychoactive drug consumed for its empathogenic and euphoric effects
Day 16: Amphetamine-- central nervous system stimulant
Day 17: Mescaline-- naturally occurring psychedelic alkaloid taken for its hallucinogenic effects, similar to LSD
Day 18: Ketamine-- synthetic compound often used illegally as a hallucinogen
Day 19: LSD-- psychedelic drug in the ergoline family used for its psychological effects
Day 20: Love-- oxytocin is a hormone that acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain, often called the 'cuddle hormone'
