Guy’s Love For Dominoes Saved His Life After He Didn’t Order For 11 Days
#1 If you’ve ever worked at somewhere that serves food, you’ll understand the caring attitude that staff develop toward regular customers.
And no, not regular customers who turn up once a month. We mean, that guy who turns up at 11:34AM exactly every day for his cup of black coffee, for which he always has the exact change to pay for.
#2 Well, being a regular customer actually saved this guy’s life.
Employees at the Salem shop became worried after Alexander - who has been a regular customer for seven years - hadn't called in to the store in nearly two weeks, so they sent a delivery driver to his home to check up on him.
#3 When Tracey Hamblen, an employee,
knocked on his door just after midnight on Sunday, he didn't respond. Which, to some, might not have seemed too strange because, you know, people sleep after midnight.
#4 Tracey knew something was up, however, and called 911
and Kirk was found by the emergency services on the floor of his home after suffering an alleged stroke.
#5 This concern, said authorities, likely saved Alexander’s life.
#6 Sarah Fuller, the general manager at a Salem-area Domino’s, told KOIN.com that Alexander, 48, had been a regular customer since 2009.
"He orders every day, every other day," Fuller said. "His order pops up on the screen because he orders online. So we see it come across the screen and we're like, ‘Oh, Kirk's order.'"
But last week was different. Several days passed without a single order from Alexander.
#7 Fuller told KATU.com.
"A few of my drivers had mentioned that we hadn't seen his order come across our screen in a while."
When she checked the restaurant's database, Fuller discovered that it'd been 11 days since Alexander's last order, "which is not like him at all," she said.
#8 According to the sheriff’s office,
deputies heard a man "calling for help from inside the residence" when they arrived at the scene. Upon entering the home, they found Alexander, who reportedly suffers from severe health issues, in "need of immediate medical attention."
#9 Alexander was whisked to the hospital, where he is now recovering.
#10 The sheriff’s office expressed their gratitude to Hamblen “for his quick actions and willingness to take time out of his day to care for others.”
Not to point out the flaws in this heroic tale, but the daily Dominoes pizza can't have helped his health problems. That doesn't, however, fault the caring nature of the staff at his local Dominoes.
