Henry Cavill Gave An Uncomfortable And Sad Interview Before He Quit 'The Witcher'

A few days before the news of Henry Cavill parting ways from 'The Witcher was announced, the actor had possibly shared the news already with his fans in an interview.

On October 29, the 39-year-old actor - who played Geralt of Rivia in two seasons of the Netflix fantasy series - announced that he would be leaving after its next season and that Liam Hemsworth will take over his lead role.

This news left the fans shocked and sad and many questioned why Cavill was leaving the uber hit series, some even started petition to stop their favorite Geralt of Rivia from leaving the show.

Now, an interview that Cavill gave on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on 27 October - days before the news of his exit - has circulated on social media and appears to shed light on his decision.

Speaking about his work ethic and his approach to his projects, the Man of Steel actor told interviewer Josh Horowitz: "It’s just about belief. If you believe what you’re doing is the right thing then you’ll be able to keep on doing it."

"It’s also important to know that if you realize you’re doing the wrong thing, that’s when you stop doing the wrong thing. You don’t just keep going just because that leads down a dark path," he added.

Even though this answer was not given in response to Cavill's exit from the show but fans believe that this was the message from the actor that he left the show over creative differences.

One user shared their thoughts, writing: "I feel that from 45:22 Henry might be having the Witcher in mind. He did the right thing by quitting the Witcher. The showrunner turned out to be a very incompetent person, making one mistake after another, pushing her own agenda."

Another user also included a time-stamp and said: "He was talking about Witcher for sure and you can tell how it personally affected him by the tone of his voice and how serious he was saying that."

"It's clear that working with the witcher crew any further went against his values as an actor and as a fan of the Witcher franchise," they added.

A third person said that Cavill spent little time talking about the show during the interview, writing: "So heartbreaking that the biggest cheer was for Witcher and this was what? Just a few days before news about him no longer being Gerald came out? So he knew that during the interview, probably why they moved from it so fast."

The timing of the announcement has also not been lost on fans, many of whom pointed out that it was only recently revealed that the star would be returning to his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe.

Many people suggested that his return to DC had something to do with his departure from The Witcher, while others say that he left over the direction the show's writers were going in.

According to Gamesradar, Redanian Intelligence reported that throughout the press tour for the second season, the actor made it clear that he wanted the series to stay true to the books on which it is based.

"The toughest part for me was finding that balance between the showrunners' vision and my love for the books, and trying to bring that Geralt to the showrunners' vision," he said, per Redanian.

"It's about treading a fine line there. It’s the showrunners’ story and so it’s an adaptation," he continued. "The tricky bit for me was finding Geralt from the books’ place within that and being able to serve both as much as I could."
