11 year old Kaylee Olsen is a completely normal girl from Utah, with a huge passion: fashion. She loves shopping for new clothes and dressing to look good. But she places too much value on the exterior. Kaylee bullies one of the girls in her class because she can't buy any new clothes. She taunts her: "you're dumb and look sleazy. You look so stupid!"

When her step-mother hears about this, she is shocked. She will simply not tolerate bullying. So she looks for a way to teach her step-daughter some respect and manners. Then, she has a great idea:
She goes shopping with Kaylee. They go to a secondhand clothes store and the girls should pick out the "ugliest clothes" she can find, which she found to be so much fun, because she didn't know that for the next 2 days these would be the clothes that she has to wear ...

... so that she learns how it feels to be on the other side. She can't believe that her parents would force her to do this and is understandable less that happy about it. Suddenly she is standing in the spotlight. The other kids make fun of her and Kaylee feels first-hand how hurtful it can be, to have everyone laughing at you. So she learned her lesson very fast - what matters is the person, not the clothes. Now she has a different perspective and can sympathise with how mean she was to her classmates. Kaylee spoke to the girl that she's bullied and apologised. The best part of the whole story: the two girls discovered how much they have in common and are now best friends!
