This brave dad got badly injured while protecting his three kids when shots were fired at a New York City car dealership has lost both his jobs due to his injuries.
Anthony Jefferson is hailed a hero for getting injured and taking a bullet in his thigh from gunfire that erupted at On The Road Automotive in the Bronx.
The man who was there at the dealership to select a vehicle for his wife's surprise birthday party had little idea that he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Though Anthony has been discharged from the hospital, during this process he has lost not only his two jobs but his kids are still in the shock of the incident.
Anthony's wife Danica told TMZ that Anthony cannot walk at the moment because of his sustained injuries from the shooting.
Because of his injuries, Anthony has been fired from his job as a head painter for a maintenance company and as a construction worker in the city.
Though Anthony has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering, Danica says that he is due to undergo another surgery as the bullet is still lodged in his thigh.
Danica added that their children, aged six, five, and two, have become distressed over the ordeal.
She told TMZ that the small children are hesitant to go outside the home, cry in their sleep and the two-year-old has asked: 'Why did the man shoot my daddy?'
The couple hopes to get help from a therapist for their kids.
A GoFundMe was set up by a family friend. The money will go towards the family's medical bills and to enroll the children in therapy.
The fund has raised nearly $8,400 of its $24,100 goal so far.
'Due to his injury, Anthony lost his job and has to have surgery to remove the bullet. This Go Fund me is to help this heroic dad with his medical bills and his kids with therapy. They are beyond traumatized,' an accompanying message read.
Disturbing video captured the entire incident that took place at around 7.20pm on Monday in the Eastchester neighborhood.

Video shows Anthony sitting at the dealership shop with his three children when a man in a black hoodie ran up and began firing through an open glass door.
Confused at the beginning over what is happening, the dad got into action immediately and swiftly picked his kids and shielded them from the firing by forming a human shield around them.
According to police, Anthony was struck with a bullet in one of his thighs.
Anthony was transported to Jacobi Medical Center and is said to be in stable condition.
Several other customers were seen milling around the dealership when the gunshots rang out, sending them running for cover.
Police said they're searching for two suspects, one of whom carjacked a vehicle immediately after the shooting.
Investigators also believe the shooting is gang-related. Sources told the New York Daily News that a gang member was doing business in the dealership when their rival opened fire.
The sources said investigators have not determined whether the father-of-three was targeted.
