A SELFIE stick hater who ran through the streets of New York cutting selfie sticks in half as been slammed as a “disgusting person”
Unlucky tourists were targeted as the self-proclaimed selfie stick clipper, Buddy Bolton, used a pair of branch cutters to cut the tools in half with the prank caught on video.
The self-proclaimed selfie stick hater ran through the streets of New York to destroy the sticks.
Tourists were left to stare at the ground at their broken phones
But the prank has been slammed by Internet users, with some saying "disgusting person, disgusting behaviour" while others have defended it as a "masterpiece".
Nine tourists were targeted in the anti-selfie stick attack with the drama caught on video and uploaded to Youtube.
Some tourists were left to stare forlornly at their broken selfie sticks, others were quick to chase after the culprit.
But the video has not attracted much love at all with the majority of those responding to the footage giving it a thumbs down.
People have said the video is a fake, pointing out some of the phone cases are empty
The video, which was shared on September 1, was accompanied with the explanation: "We were sick of Selfie Stick tourists in NYC, so we did this."
But some Internet sleuths already called foul, saying the video is a fake.
One person, Shon M, took to Youtube writing: "lol it's fake, that's just a case without a phone, watch the video again, every clip is just a case with no phone".
Tourists were targeted across the city by the selfie stick hater
Another echoed the unhappiness of viewers, writing: "who else only clicked on the video just to dislike it?"
Others said the video was "blatent (sic) entitled horsesh*****y".
But others said not to mind the hates, with one commenter writing: "they just cant live without their dumb phones and selfies. I enjoyed it! cant wait for another prank!"
Buddy responded to the comments writing: "We're not worried about that it was all in good spirits and only people online are mad."
He said the prankster team now intended on travelling to LA or Miami next with some other jokes planned.
