Two heroes jumped in to rescue the woman by fighting the attacker off as the man as seen to grab her hair and appeared to hold her head down towards the water.
A shocking video from an event in 2022 captures a grim scene where it looks like a man is pushing a woman's head into a public fountain, until two brave souls step in to help her out.
This man, who was 52 at the time and remains unnamed, faced attempted murder charges after what went down on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in a park in Valencia, Spain.
It all kicked off when another guy offered to snap a pic of the two while they were hanging out in the fountain.
But as soon as he got the man's phone, he bolted with it.
Thinking the woman was in on the phone-snatching scheme, the man lashed out and tried to drown her in the fountain, according to what the local news outlets were saying.
The video, which is a bit blurry, captures the shirtless man—who seemed like he might have had a bit too much to drink—grabbing the woman by her hair and shoving her head into the water.
While he's doing this, you can hear him saying something to her, and off-camera, someone yells, "He's going to kill her."
Then, a guy in a red T-shirt dives into the fountain and goes for the attacker, locking him in a headlock in an attempt to pull him off the woman.
A second hero, this one in a black T-shirt, steps into the water and starts landing punches on the attacker.
Despite the blows, the aggressor hangs onto the woman's hair for about 30 more seconds until the guy in black lands a solid punch, making him release her.
The woman, who's only in her underwear by this point, manages to get up and stumble out of the fountain to safety.
Both the victim and the man who attacked her ended up in the hospital soon after, with paramedics arriving on the scene within minutes.
She was treated for injuries from fighting back, and he needed care for a cut eyebrow and cheekbone.
By the time the police got there, the guy who ran off with the phone and the two heroes had already left.
The officers made sure to give the woman some clothes as she was recovering from this horrifying ordeal.
