They say that age ain’t nothing but a number, but we think that might depend on the actual number in question. A five year age gap? No sweat. 10 years? Definitely doable? 15? 20? 30? Now we’re getting into tricky territory. For example, how do you form a solid relationship when the person you’re involved with has children your age? Shouldn’t the idea of taking up with someone young enough to be your son or daughter’s playmate make you feel all sorts of nasty inside? It seems to be a pattern among the Hollywood set, particularly among the men. As they get older – both in real life and in films – their partners get younger and younger, essentially Benjamin Buttoning themselves into adolescence. Women become the third or fourth wives, popping out children to men decades older than their own fathers, and then claim that love led the way rather than money, security, or the chance to strike it big on their own. Call us jaded, but if you think age is just a number when you’re racking up a few decades between the two of you, there’s not an equal balance of power. Hugh Hefner & Crystal Harris: 60 years
We know that he’s recently passed on, but it wouldn’t be a complete list without remarking on the vast age difference between Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and his last wife, Crystal Harris. Hefner was known for consorting with a bevy of young beauties, often having them vie for his attentions and affections despite the decades separating them. He routinely kept a rotation of girls at his disposal, and it was a shock to us all when he decided to wed the 60-years-young Harris.
Of course, Harris got cold feet at first and left Hefner at the altar, before coming to her sense about the possible payday she could cash in on and wed the guy, sticking it out with him until he died just this past month at the age of 91. The largest age gap of all the ones on our list, 60 years is an impossible difference to ignore, and quite frankly, we’re impressed that this union lasted as long as it did!
James Woods & Kristen Bauguess: 46 years
If you’ve been following along on Twitter, you might have read some of the controversy recently surrounding James Woods. Actress Amber Tamblyn levied an accusation against Woods on the site, saying he had approached her and a friend to take them to Vegas, despite learning that she was 16 at the time. (Allegedly, he said “even better” when Tamblyn revealed her age.)
It shouldn’t really be that big of a shock, however, considering Woods’ dating history. Does this photo look like a nice young woman and her grandfather? Well, it’s not! In fact, it’s Kristen Bauguess, who at 21 was a whole 46 years younger than her 67-year-old partner when they first started dating! Prior to Bauguess, Woods also took up with then-19-year-old Ashley Madison for seven years, dumping her when she turned 26. One look at the online interactions between Bauguess and Woods is guaranteed to have you heaving.
Doug Hutchison & Courtney Stodden: 34 years
Easily the go-to couple for gross age gaps, Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden get more press and publicity for the nasty relationship they share rather than any veritable talent on either of their parts. In a twisted display of parental approval, Stodden married Hutchison back in 2011, when she was a mere 16 years old (with parental consent) and the two have had the kind of rocky relationship you’d expect from a couple separated by 34 years.
They have been off and on throughout their time together, appeared on Couples Therapy to discuss their issues, suffered a miscarriage, and endured a very strange time when Stodden accused her own mother of trying to snag Hutchison for herself – because the guy’s such a catch, naturally. Although these two split in February of this year, no list of celebrity couples with gross AF age differences would be complete without them in all their gag-worthy glory!
Mel Gibson & Rosalind Ross: 35 years
Knowing what we all know about Mel Gibson’s temper, his disdain for women, and his violent behavior, one has to wonder how anyone could possibly be so naïve or so blind as to willingly enter into a relationship with him. Well, perhaps naiveté does, in fact, play a role here, as well as youth, since Gibson’s newest girlfriend is equestrian-turned-screenwriter Rosalind Ross, who at 26 is 35 years his junior!
The pair met when Ross applied for a job with Gibson’s production company, and in what would normally be an HR nightmare, hit it off and dated for two years before Ross became pregnant with Gibson’s ninth child. Oh, and did we mention that all but three of those children (Ross’ included) are older than his newest girlfriend? Yeah, we’re going to dial up the “eww” factor here. Age may be just a number to these two, who have dealt with much public scrutiny and criticism since stepping out, but we wonder if any of Gibson’s older children feel differently.
Woody Allen & Soon-Yi Previn: 35 years
Another couple that we would be remiss to leave off of this list for all of its cringe-inducing icky details, we have director Woody Allen and his 35-years-younger wife Soon-Yi Previn. Now, the age difference alone between these two is enough to make people shiver inside, but it gets a whole lot worse when you consider the fact that Previn was actually Allen’s adopted daughter with then-wife Mia Farrow! Seriously, how many ethical and moral lines does this relationship cross?
Allen acted as a father to Previn, despite her insistence to the contrary in more recent years, while he maintained a romantic relationship with her adoptive mother Farrow. It wasn’t until 1992 when Farrow discovered the semi-incestuous affair that she ended things with Allen, and Previn and Allen struck things up officially. Hopefully, history has not repeated itself, as the couple has two adopted children of their own now.
Melanie Hamrick & Mick Jagger: 43 years
If you don’t recognize the name Melanie Hamrick, don’t feel bad – most people don’t! The 30-year-old ballerina is better known for her eyebrow-raising (and perhaps vomit-inducing) relationship with 73-year-old Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger than she is for any dance moves because it proves that the craggy septuagenarian can still get it!
Meeting on tour is a traditional way for women to hook up with famous rock stars, and despite her insistence to being more than a “baby mama” (Hamrick and Jagger welcomed a son in January), that is exactly how the two came to cross paths. Following the death of his longtime partner, L’Wren Scott, Jagger and Hamrick became official, despite the tongues wagging. While he looks more the part of a grandfather than a proud papa to his eighth child, Jagger has insisted on being as hands-on as possible and considering his age, we imagine having a tiny tot around might help him feel young again!
Robin Thicke & April Love Geary: 28 years
Robin Thicke had a good thing once and messed it up, so only time will tell if he’s able to hold onto pretty young thing April Love Geary, who is 28 years his junior.
Prior to his 2013 meltdown following his televised gyration with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards, Thicke’s relationship with his wife and mother to his children, Paula Patton, dissolved amid claims of his drug and alcohol abuse and rampant cheating. Clearly, the young Geary didn’t get the memo that this guy was bad news, because not only did she strike up a relationship with him – she got pregnant by him too! (It also didn’t seem to strike her as odd that her new beau had penned an entire album named after his ex-wife in an attempt to get her back.) Owing to the couple’s age gap, Geary has taken to Instagram more than a couple times to defend the difference. While it’s definitely a bit of a shock to learn that almost two decades separate the couple, we’re more concerned about Thicke’s track record than Geary’s birthday!
Jennifer Lawrence & Darren Aronofsky: 22 years
If you’ve seen Jennifer Lawrence’s latest cinematic offering, "Mother!" then perhaps it won’t surprise you to learn that the 27-year-old actress is involved with a man 22 years older than her, since her character is married to a man much older than herself in the film. In this case, Lawrence has taken up with the director of "Mother!", Darren Aronofsky, despite their 22 year age difference.
A fairly private couple when it comes to celebrity romances, Lawrence and Aronofsky are occasionally spotted together on the streets of NYC and have been gushing about one another in interviews while on the press circuit for their film. Although more than two decades separate the Oscar-winning actress and Oscar-winning director, Lawrence’s penchant for taking on more mature roles meant for older actresses might be what’s needed to keep this relationship going. Together for over a year, we’ll have to see if this age-disparate couple continues to make strange art together for years to come!

The only woman on our list to have a younger man on her arm, we have Kris Jenner and her boy-toy Corey Gamble, who is 25 years her junior. Considering the fact that Jenner is obsessed with staying young (and famous, of course), it shouldn’t surprise anyone that she’s struck up a relationship with the much-younger Gamble, although it might surprise you to learn that the unlikely duo has been together for about three years!
If reports are to be believed, the relationship has been a contentious one, with Jenner playing both mom and girlfriend to Gamble, who has been known to throw a tantrum if he doesn’t get his way – literally. Considering the fact that Jenner has raised six children, we’d say it’s old hat for her to play the matriarch yet again! Having to squash rumors of break-ups and marriage proposals, it seems that Jenner isn’t able to totally escape the drama, but then again, that’s probably the way she likes it!

It sounds like a page out of the mid-life crisis handbook: after three failed marriages, an older man hops abroad a plane, only to fall madly in love – or lust – with a sexy young flight attendant. Oh, and did we mention this flight attendant is 25 years younger and becomes his fourth wife after he’s been married to, in order, a dance instructor, an exotic dancer, and a Playboy model? Just another day in the life of Kelsey Grammer!
The star of Cheers and Frasier got involved with Kayte Walsh after splitting from his latest wife, Camille, she of the Real Housewives glory. The pair married only one month after Grammer’s divorce was finalized! Despite their pretty massive age difference – and the fact that Walsh is only a couple years older than Grammer’s eldest daughter, Spencer – these two have stuck it out since marrying in 2011 and now have two children together.
David Hasselhoff & Hayley Roberts: 27 years
There are a few icky things involved in this pairing, which has 27 years separating the couple: First, Hayley Roberts is only two years older than David Hasselhoff’s eldest daughter, a pattern we’ve seen among the older men choosing to shack up with younger women. Second – and perhaps more disturbingly – Hayley shares a name with one of the Hoff’s daughters! Ew!
After five years of dating, this unlikely couples got engaged in 2015 and have yet to make things official on paper – perhaps because of how much criticism they’ve endured? Sophia Thomalla is a German TV presenter and model (naturally), and the two have been inseparable since hooking up in April 2017. Considering the fact that his ex Stefani ran into the arms of her co-host on The Voice, Blake Shelton almost immediately following her separation, we can’t fault Rossdale for hooking up with a pretty young thing soon after splitting from his multi-talented wife. 24 years sounds like a hefty gap, and it is, but there’s another element to this relationship that makes us cringe in disgust: Thomalla is actually a year younger than Rossdale’s eldest daughter, Daisy Lowe! If your new GF can be your daughter’s BFF, then there’s bound to be some ickiness.
