Australian influencer Eli Moulton had a terrifying brush with death when a scarf she was wearing became caught under a moving car, nearly strangling her in the process.

Over the weekend, Eli shared a series of clips and photos on Instagram, where she revealed to her followers just how close she came to a serious accident. The fashion creator admitted that the ordeal could have ended very differently.

She had been attending the opening of the Glenelg BMW in her hometown with a friend when it happened, captioning one clip with: "The dress that had me in a chokehold."

Eli later showed the painful results of the incident in several selfies she posted online.

The photos revealed an angry red burn mark circling her neck, where the scarf had pulled tightly against her skin.

She added a serious reminder for her followers, writing: "A reminder for the ladies: REMOVE your neck scarves before entering or operating any heavy machinery!"

"Nearly decapitated myself getting the scarf tangled underneath the car on the way home #fashionfail #nearmiss #neckscarf #safetyfirst."

Her warning post quickly drew attention and sparked dozens of comments. One of the most notable responses was: "You nearly suffered same fate as Isadora Duncan; in 1927 she was strangled by her enormous silk scarf tangled around the hubcaps of her open sports car... Hence the name Isadora Scarf!"

To which Eli humorously replied: "She was a bit more boujee being in France and all, I was just leaving Brighton Road,"

Other users chimed in with concern and sympathy. One person said: "Eli! That is frightening. Looks sore too. Hope you are ok x."

Another added: "This could only happen to you El. but faarrrrkkkkk you are lucky it wasn't any worse. I hope you feel better soon and it's not too painful."

And one follower joked: "Fashion is a dangerous business. You poor love,"

Despite the scare, Eli later reassured everyone that she was healing, posting on her Instagram Stories: "We are off to get this medically dressed, don't worry folks. My spirits are still high. Thriving and surviving."

Her accident came after a far more tragic case in Brazil, where a father-of-three was killed in a freak incident involving a similar entanglement with a dangerous string while traveling to see his daughter.

The victim, Auriel Missael Henrique, 41, was riding on the back of a motorbike with his wife on June 3 when the horrific accident occurred.

While traveling toward the Nova Iguaçu region in northern Rio, he collided with what is known as a ‘Chilean line,’ which cut deeply into his neck.

These strings are used in a game called kite fighting, where children and even adults try to sever each other’s kites mid-air.

To make them sharp enough, powdered glass is glued to the threads, turning them into dangerous cutting lines.

Sadly, Auriel’s neck became tangled in one of these strings, fatally slicing into him and leaving him with catastrophic injuries.

A passing driver tried to provide immediate help at the scene, and he was rushed toward Nova Iguaçu General Hospital.

Tragically, he went into cardiorespiratory arrest from the severe wound and passed away before reaching the facility.

Auriel, who worked both as a motorcycle taxi driver and a chef, is remembered by his wife and three children, aged 21, 19, and 6, who now face life without him.
