Instead Of Retiring, This 68-Year-Old Grandma – And MMA Wannabe - Just Wants To Fight

We like to think that older people are just aged versions of ourselves. Even as the body begins to break down and the reflexes go, we see example after example of individuals in their golden years getting busy.
No, not in the bedroom, but in various otherwise youthful endeavors. From weight lighting and triathlons to music and other media, we are taught to respect our elders, even when what they are doing seems dangerous, or in some cases, downright insane. An octogenarian skydiving? A 90-year-old trying to earn their black belt in martial art? Calm down there a bit, Grandpa.
Still, age didn't keep Ann Perez from living the dream, no matter how briefly. The 68-year-old wanted to be a boxer (an MMA fighter, actually) and was given the chance by the Spartan Combat League. Naturally, you'd think her opponent was someone of equal size, statureand age.

Instead, Perez went up against 24-year-old Laura Dettman. Yes, that's a 44 year age difference. In the video in this article you will see what went down once the two titans entered the ring. In a resolution a lot like Thunderdome, only one person exited victorious.

So was it Perez? Actually, you can probably come to the proper conclusion yourself. Naturally, those in attendance immediate hit social media with a stream of critical Tweets. Some condemned the SPL. Others argued that the match was still better than the whole Kimbo Slice/ Dada5000 debacle.
Whatever your position, it's possible to applaud Perez without completely agreeing with what she wanted to do. She got her shotactually, she got severalto the face, body, head, neck, etc.
