Will Smith has become a trending topic on all social media platforms after his stint at the Oscars last night. The actor marched angrily onto the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock right in the face after the host made a distasteful joke about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jada attended the event in a beautiful emerald green gown with a skintight bodice and huge, ruched train, with statement earrings and rocking her shaved head.

Meanwhile, her cropped hairstyle garnered attention from comedian Chris Rock, who compared her to GI Jane.

Will then angrily got out of his seat and marched to the stage and smacked the host in his face before going back to his seat and screaming: "Leave my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth."

Jada Pinkett Smith has been vocal about her struggle with alopecia in the past, as she suffers from the autoimmune disorder alopecia.

The medical condition affects her hair follicles which in turn results in bald spots and hair loss.

The 50-year-old actor first opened up about her condition in 2018 in her Red Table Talk series.

She said it "wasn't easy" to talk about, after fans asked her why she had been wearing turbans at the time.

Talking of the "terrifying" ordeal, Jada said: "I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, 'Oh my God, am I going bald?'

"It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear. That's why I cut my hair, and why I continue to cut it."

Back in December 2021, she said on Instagram she could "only laugh" about the situation, while also showing fans a bald patch on her head.

She said: "Y'all know I've been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that."

Jada added: "It just showed up like that and this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide. So I thought I'd just share it so y'all are not asking any questions."

The actress previously had "little steroid injections" to try and remedy the hair loss, which "seemed to be helping, but not curing".

The actress then gathered her courage and debuted with her shaved head in 2021 and gave credit to her daughter Willow, 21 for inspiring her to take such a courageous decsion.

She wrote on Instagram: "Willow made me do it because it was time to let go.

"But … my 50's are bout to be divinely lit with this shed."

She has since worn extravagant head pieces on red carpets, such as at the Critics Choice Awards earlier this year and has been rocking her look everytime.

Last night, however, the comedian decided to make a joke out of Jada's condition as he distastefully compared her shaved head to GI Jane.

While Will Smith appeared to laugh at the joke, Jada remained straight-faced and looked unimpressed.

Moments later, Will got out of his seat and walked on stage before punching Chris and returning to his seat.

He could then be heard screaming: "Leave my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth."

"I'm being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people. I know to do what we do you've got to be able to take abuse. You've got to be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business you've got to be able to have people disrespecting you and you've got to smile and pretend that's okay."

Will then apologised and said "love will make you do crazy things".

He added: "I hope the Academy invites me back."
