The interview, which originally aired in March 2023, saw Aniston finally opening up about her on-screen chemistry with Schwimmer during their time on the beloved sitcom.

In "Friends," Aniston and Schwimmer played the iconic couple, Ross Geller and Rachel Green, who captured the hearts of fans with their on-off relationship throughout the series.

During the interview, Kelly Ripa commented on the early years of "Friends," saying, "In the early years, you [and Schwimmer] had a crush on each other."

To this, Aniston immediately responded, "Yes we did," confirming the long-held speculation among fans.

The revelation was met with cheers from the audience, as the 54-year-old actress added, "We just let it play out on TV."

When Ryan Secrest, who was standing in for regular host Mark Consuelos, asked if their first kiss was a TV kiss, Aniston confirmed, "Yes."

Ripa then inquired if it was weird, to which Aniston humorously replied, "Well, no, it was quite enjoyable, actually," and elaborated, "Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop so, we just channeled all of our love and adoration for each other into [their characters] Ross and Rachel."

This isn't the first time the public has heard about the romantic tension between Aniston and Schwimmer.

In the "Friends: The Reunion" documentary in 2021, Schwimmer, then 56, admitted to having a "major crush" on Aniston during the show's first season.

Aniston reciprocated the sentiment.

Schwimmer described their situation, saying, "At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."

Aniston had previously maintained that their affection never turned into a real-life romance.

In a 2021 interview with Howard Stern, she said, "He was lovely, David was great. But no, we never, on my life [got together]..."

"We were in relationships and it was always never the right time and it wouldn’t have worked."

However, fans haven't stopped rooting for the duo, with many expressing their support online.

And a third referred to them as "one of the biggest TV couples in the world," noting, "Jennifer Aniston & David Schwimmer expressed their feelings for each through Ross and Rachel. no wonder they are one of the biggest TV couples in the world. #FriendsReunion."

While Aniston and Schwimmer's off-screen romance may have never materialized, their on-screen portrayal of Ross and Rachel continues to be a defining aspect of TV romance.

As some fans suggest, maybe in another lifetime, their timing might align.
