The author of "Harry Potter," a well-known fantasy series, JK Rowling has been awarded the prestigious Companion of Honor Award by the British Royal family. The award was presented in recognition of her services to Literature and Philanthropy.

JK Rowling received the award from Prince William at the Buckingham Palace. In accordance with the Royal Family, the award was founded by King George V In 1917 and the rare title is awarded to those who have made a major contribution in their respective field.

JK Rowling attended the award ceremony with her husband Dr Neil Murray. On her Twitter account, she expressed her gratitude, "I'm deeply honoured and proud to be receiving this honour. To be included in the distinguished and diversely talented company of the other Companions of Honour, especially as a female writer, is a particular privilege."
