An article from The Hollywood Reporter at the time said: “While shooting Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Australia, Depp swallowed eight ecstasy pills at once, according to testimony in the U.K. case, and embarked on a campaign of terror aimed at Heard.”

“It culminated with the tip of his finger being sliced off, which resulted in his being flown back to Los Angeles for surgery.”

When asked about the reports when he returned to the stand today, Depp said that he had never consumed ecstasy on such a large scale.

He was asked: “Have you ever consumed 8-10 MDMA pills at once?”

Cracking a brief smile, Depp replied: “No, ma’am. No, I have not.”

When pressed as to why that was, he said: “Because if I did, I’m pretty sure I’d be dead. I think one would die.”

In his final testimony, Depp disputed the 'outlandish, ridiculous stories' that had been made about him, insisting that he had never committed sexual violence or physical abuse.

He characterized how Heard's evidence affected him as "ridiculous, humiliating, comical, horrible, ferocious, unimaginably brutal, cruel, and all false," as the direct examination ended.

Depp continued: “No human being is perfect, certainly not – none of us – but I have never, in my life, committed sexual battery, physical abuse. “

“All these outlandish, outrageous stories of me committing these things, and living with it for six years and waiting to be able to bring the truth out. “

“So this is not easy for any of us, I know that. But no matter what happens I did get here, and I did tell the truth.”
