At the 2023 BottleRock Napa Valley festival, Keanu Reeves had a remarkable reunion with his rock band Dogstar. The renowned star of The Matrix took the stage as a bassist, marking his first public performance with the group in over two decades.
Keanu Reeves And His Band Dogstar Perform Live For The First Time In Two Decades
In order to put on a memorable performance at the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival, Keanu Reeves and his band Dogstar have reunited.
The band reunited onstage for the first time in twenty years to perform their hit songs at the yearly music festival in California.
The actor played the bass while hitting some incredibly high notes on the Verizon stage while taking a break from filming.
Bret Domrose on vocals, Robert Mailhouse on drums, and the rest of the band performed songs from Reeves' third studio album.
A coincidental meeting between Mailhouse and Reeves at a supermarket led to the formation of the band in 1991.
While donning a Detroit Red Wings hockey jersey, Mailhouse was approached by The Matrix actor who inquired if he required a goaltender.
Before Gregg Miller joined them and they formed their band, the two men started to jam together as they became closer.
Before splitting up in 2002, the band put out two studio albums to varying degrees of success.
They wrote to their 57,000 Instagram followers after their performance, saying the following: "Great to be back on stage! What a fantastic day we had. Thank you so much BottleRock."
Dogstar announced on social media in July that they would be releasing new songs with the caption "We're back. #tbt."
Additionally, they disclosed that they were collaborating at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles with producer Dave Trumfio and engineer Ruddy Lee Cullers.
However, in addition to releasing new music, the actor will return as John Wick in the upcoming spin-off Ballerina.
When ballerina-assassin Rooney (played by Ana De Armas) is on the hunt for her family's killers between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and Chapter 4, the action-thriller will take place.
Les Wiseman will direct the movie and provide a "fresh" perspective on the franchise, according to Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick movies.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: "Having him [Len Wiseman] on board and approaching some of the action design from a slightly different perspective, meaning the set pieces, the character involvement, how and what he wants to do during the action sequences, makes it kind of fresh."
Domrose continued as a trio when Miller left the group in 1995 as the only singer and guitarist.
The EP Quattro Formaggi and Their Little Visionary, the band Dogstar's debut studio album, were both released in 1996.
It would take the band around four years to release their follow-up, Happy Ending, in July 2000.
In contrast to the band's prior work, Domrose described the music on this album as being more "pop-aggressive."
Reeves' position as bassist attracted considerable media interest, but the band only achieved modest success up until 2002, when they chose to disband after an October concert in Japan.
On social media, the band is anticipated to inform their followers about upcoming performances and the release date of new music.
When the band reformed, many fans were thrilled, as one individual wrote: "Thank you for a great performance. When the first photos and videos started to appear, I woke up and watched excitedly. You are awesome."
Another said: "Congrats to all of you. You were incredible!!! Such a blast!"
While another commented: "Y’all were worth the (20-year) wait."
