Preparing the fans for what is going to happen in the show, Reinhart has revealed that there would be a lot of drama with the arrival of Betty Cooper's long-lost brother Chic in the show and Cooper will go through some really tough period due to her mental health issues and family issues which will even create friction between her friendship with Veronica Lodge.

After a two week break and mid-season finale, TV series "Riverdale" is set to return on January 17. Now Lili Reinhart has opened up about the upcoming season and has hinted towards a lot of drama that is awaiting the fans. Reinhart has also hinted fans about what to expect from Betty Cooper's character.

The actress has hinted that the drama will focus on the mental health of Betty Cooper and will also mark the entrance of her brother Chic. She hinted there also might be some brother-sister bonding over the mental health issues.

Opening up to Glamour magazine, about Cooper's struggles she said, "When Betty digs her nails into her hands, it’s kind of when things are happening with her family. That’s her trigger, whether it be her mother, her brother, or Polly. I think that’s something to keep in mind."

There also might be some rift observed between Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper. Hinting that their friendship would be in trouble not over boys issues but it may be something related to 'family politics.' She said, "Not to give too much away, but I think there is definitely challenges to come in Betty and Veronica’s friendship, and it’s a result of their parents, to be honest. It’s like, how do they navigate their friendship with the parents that they have? And if their parents are at war, does that mean the kids are at war? That becomes very, very heavy in the latter half. The concept of Betty and Veronica putting each other first does become challenged."

Also adding the point that Cooper is curious about her brother too, thinking if he has the same struggles as her. Reinhart said, "She’s very curious to see if he has that darkness inside him as well."
The second season of the show is soon set to return the TV and the good news for the fans out there is that the second season has 21 episodes.
