In a stunning accident on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Chatsworth, police say no one was severely hurt.
Video Shows Heart-Pounding Moment Loose Tire Sends Car Flipping In Air
A car was hit by a tire that had fallen off a pickup truck during a freak accident on a busy California freeway, sending it spinning in the air, as seen on a dashboard video.
The crazy incident was captured by a Tesla dashcam on Chatsworth's 118 Freeway last Thursday and resembled a chase scenario from a major motion picture.
The footage shows a white Chevy Silverado pickup truck traveling in the center lane as it approaches a dark-colored Kia Soul hatchback.
Moments later, the front left tyre of the Chevy truck suddenly comes flying off the axle and careens straight into the path of the Kia, sending it flipping in the air before it crashes to the ground.
Fortunately for the driver, the vehicle came to rest on its wheels with the right way up.
Large pieces of the severely damaged Kia's debris were dispersed across several freeway lanes by the collision.
The truck's detached tire that started all the trouble continued to roll recklessly before crashing into the unfortunate Kia once more before coming to a stop.
Amazingly, according to the California Highway Patrol, the only person inside the wrecked Kia Soul sustained only minor wounds, and no one else was hurt, ABC 7 reported.
The Tesla's driver, Anoop Khatra, who captured the mind-blowing video, tweeted that it was "the most INSANE car crash."
The pickup truck's lug nut appears to have sheared off for an unidentified cause, causing the tire to separate from the wheel hub, according to authorities.
The only person inside the Kia, according to Khatra, was the driver, who looked to escape the accident without any serious wounds.
According to the source, the Los Angeles Police Department reported that there were no serious injuries after the incident.
